Ride hailing taxi app firm Uber must classify its drivers as workers rather than self-employed, the UK's Supreme Court has ruled.
The decision means tens of thousands of Uber drivers are set to be entitled to minimum wage and holiday pay.
The ruling could leave Uber facing a hefty compensation bill, and have wider consequences for the gig economy.
In a long-running legal battle, Uber had appealed to the Supreme Court after losing three earlier rounds.

Good to see a QT review from Sky last night.
Anybody else think it has been made at least a bit *more* watchable with the absence of a studio audience?

So, a couple of days ago we had Boris Johnson repeatedly asserting that when lockdown restrictions are lifted it will be "irreversible".

So there you have it. Against our numpty, compulsive liar of a PM, even James Cleverly is a voice of reason by comparison. We are truly doomed.

The Foreign Office minister James Cleverly said it was impossible to give the public “100% certainty” because “viruses don’t work like that”.

EU negotiations are tough and need cross government effort. But so are US negotiations. International talks are a contact sport as a wise man once said. They need the best government structures, not some central diktat led hybrid. Shouting in the wind, but all said now... 12/ end

Thing is, Johnson's aspiration that this lockdown should be the last isn't wrong in itself.Willow904 wrote:So, a couple of days ago we had Boris Johnson repeatedly asserting that when lockdown restrictions are lifted it will be "irreversible".

Its that he still wants (if you believe the speculation) to rush things.
This is not compatible.

It's that he has no plan to accompany the aspiration with appropriate action to achieve it.AnatolyKasparov wrote:

I'm tempted to put 'actually' at the beginning of that now!
For instance, providing more funds for LAs to hand out to encourage isolation and sacking Serco in favour of PHE/councils.

Not entirely surprising that someone instrumental in putting us in the position of having a border in the Irish Sea doesn't have a scooby doo how to maintain unity within the Union.
