Former Met Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson has come out today to back Shaun Bailey's mayoral campaign. He says Sadiq Khan has not been a mayor "who owns the problem [of violent crime], shows leadership and supports our police".

This means, as far as No 10 are concerned, Hoyle will not get his clarification. This is an unexpected twist. At PMQs, Johnson said Starmer "voted against the document in question", after Starmer had just waved a copy of the NHS budget, and made no mention of Queen's speech.

This is a contradictory from previous statements. If strict isolation rules are applied, schools would be forced into difficult decisions, impossible staff planning & chaotic closures.

So, Labour are running on increasing nurses wages in the local elections, but have rowed back on the 5% increase they had in the last election(?). They really are spectacularly useless.

But being in the last manifesto makes it automatically bad, apparently.

Fortunately for Labour (if not actual health workers) it seems Sunak is sticking to his guns - claiming the planned figure is "proportionate, fair and reasonable".

Of all of the Labour NECs I have attended today’s was the most depressing.

The motion to recall conference was refused, no vote taken.

When @LauraPidcock
questioned how this could be explained to members Margaret Beckett called her a “silly cow”.

Tbf, it's hard to see what anyone can run on in the locals, given the current state of LA finances.
