Dyson, whose firm is based in Singapore, wrote to the Treasury asking for an assurance that his staff would not have to pay additional tax if they came to the UK to work on the project.
However, when he failed to receive a reply, the BBC said he took up the matter directly with the prime minister.
He said in a text that the firm was ready but that “sadly” it seemed no one wanted them to proceed.
Johnson replied: “I will fix it tomo! We need you. It looks fantastic.”
The prime minister then texted him again, saying: “[Chancellor Rishi [Sunak] says it is fixed!! We need you here.”
Obviously not quite...
The thing about the Dyson involvement I could never quite understand is how they managed to spend so much money on something that was already in use - it wasn't that this was a completely new piece of equipment - all that was wanted was "more of the same"
I don't buy the "cost £20m" - if they were using their own people then it was simply an allocation of costs that would have been spent elsewhere. Unless they actually lost another project or doing something else was delayed then it didn't "cost" them anything.

I see one of our most ridiculous MPs is at it again...

I agree, all schools should fly the Union Jack outside their school and a different pupil each morning should be given the honour of raising the flag at the start of the school day. The flag should also be displayed permanently in school assembly halls. Flag of United Kingdom
I've been meaning to post here about the tory Tees Valley mayor being very likely to get reelected, not because he's any good, but because his PR is.
Northeast Bylines have an article on that very subject.
