And this is a reference to Sarah Vine trying but failing to justify the expense...

The obvious response to Vine is 'why does he look like he lives in a skip, then?'.

Electoral Commission now having a look.

It'll be the usual "Cripes! Yes, absolutely right. Sorry and all that. Meant to but simply forgot. Lot going on y'know" bluster and that will be that.

We always live in hope (though not that much in this case, admittedly)

Johnson was wrong when he said in his reply to Sir Keir Starmer’s final question that Labour opposed the Brexit deal passed today by the European parliament, but it was probably one of his less serious falsehoods because he seemed to be talking more about Brexit in general (which Labour originally did oppose) than the deal agreed last December. (Politics Live, Guardian -my emphasis)
That's not how it was at all.

Johnson very rattled at PMQs today - which maybe puts the protestations of certain pundits that "nobody in the real world cares about this" into some perspective?

Some of those pundits are so wrapped up in the Westminister bubble that they wouldn't know the real world if it came up behind them and bit them on the arse.

I was reminded of the 70's Incredible Hulk TV show when witnessing Johnson's red faced, finger jabbing, petulant, ranting tantrum at PMQ's. I don't think I've ever seen him let the mask slip like that before and what was revealed was unnatractive to say the least. He didn't quite turn into Lou Ferrigno painted green but I think even his most ardent supporters would amit he's unlikeable when he's angry.

Starmer hasn't merited a lot of praise of late but Johnson losing his shit like that was a joy to behold, so well done Keir, he's 50p, go and get what you want from the pick & mix.

That one can be laid directly at Johnson's door as well.

No 10 says Johnson will retain final say over internal inquiry into whether he broke ministerial code

The Downing Street lobby briefing is over. Here are the key points.

Boris Johnson will have the final say over deciding whether or not he broke the ministerial code in relation to the funding of his flat - despite the announcement of an inquiry by the new independent adviser on ministerial interests appointed this morning. (See 11.33am.) The prime minister has always been the ultimate judge of whether or not a minister has broken the code. But, given that his own conduct is now being investigated, the prime minister’s spokesman was asked if Johnson would recuse himself from this investigation. The spokesman said Johnson would remain the “ultimate arbiter” of the code. (Politics Live, Guardian - my bold)

re the above - I would hope that the chap in charge would resign if the PM decided he was not breaking any rules when told that he had. How could you stay in that position?

Anyway...love this pic.

Exactly, is Johnson having the "final say" over this in that scenario going to convince anybody outside his diehard supporters?

Turns out I was blocking github.io with NoScript and after rectifying that I can see them in all their Twittery glory.

While you're at it I want all my posts decorated to look like a cross between a 70's Indian restaurant and a Victorian opium den. There should be no subtlety to it, not a hint of artistry, just repeat the same design until it fills the entire space. As if a disturbed child with a single stencil has been locked in a room.

Don't worry about the expense, I'll get one of my mates to pay for it, I doubt anyone will make a fuss.

Was this a voluntary refit? I've been away and drunk a lot so I can't quite remember (if I ever knew).

@Sky - the site host updated something behind the scenes, which partially broke the way the site worked. This forced my to pull my finger out and update the website software we run on - this give us the option of the fancy new toys.

Modesty has prevented PF from revealing her many other inventions.

She came up with KerPlunk for example, Going for Gold with Henry Kelly was another one of her ideas, as was the Curly Wurly.

When I visited she showed me her latest plans for an undersea hairdresser where octopuses use small sharks to cut your hair.
