IMO tories could only lose it by picking a rubbish candidate but they seem to have succeeded in keeping her out of the limelight.
However, any sweeping generalisations based on the result re labour, or the tories for that matter, should be taken with a kilo of salt.

Here's an example of a sweeping generalisation before the vote's even happened.
2005 51%, 2010 42% and in 2015 labour won with 35% against a combined tory/UKIP 48%.
You can't just say Brexit's over now and judge labour as if it had never happened. Well, they can and they will, but it's bollocks.
If Labour gets into a position to win the next GE it won't be on the back of seats like 'Pool.
'Whatever the starting point' betrays the uselessness of this take. Labour's vote share has been in freefall since 2005:You can view Hartlepool as the Labour-held seat that it is on paper, or treat it as a de facto Conservative seat given how one would expect the 25 per cent vote for the Brexit Party (which has disbanded) to break in favour of the Tories. Yet whatever the starting point, if Labour was in a position to win a majority at the next general election it would be comfortably ahead in Hartlepool.

There's a lot of doubt that this poll is accurate, mind.
(but to state the obvious, it would have to be *very* wrong for this not to be the result on Thursday)

Good evening.
Tuesday is swimming day...so that's my excuse for being late. And tomorrow I'm at the Essex Record Office - first time since the lockdown. Lots to do!
I suspect the only consolation on Thursday will be watching Lozza Fox getting fewer than Count Binface and throwing a strop that it's all the fault of the biased MSM.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

There will almost certainly be other Labour bright spots, frankly if there aren't the party might as well pack up and go home.

Good evening. I was meaning to write something about the Kuenssberg "article" about why Bozo is a liar but doesn't actually lie (or whatever the feck she was on about) over the weekend. But then I saw this which is just as facile:

Reality has overtaken satire in so many respects, though.
