Good morning.
So Nigel Biggar gets to say his piece but not the people who oppose him? OK, Got it...
Heard Jo Grady on the radio this morning, and also it's been highlighted elsewhere that this will make orgs more cautious about booking someone 'controversial' and thus second guessing what might happen.

Beyond HartlepoolLabour has developed a singular inability to appreciate what it gets right. The enthusiasm with which the Conservative Party welcomes its new voters is obvious; since the end of its last term in government, Labour has lamented those abandoning the party while dismissing those who actually vote for it with hostility and contempt. It responded with injured entitlement to the 93,000 voters who registered a Green first preference in London before backing Khan.

It seems we're back to the banning of "shark fin soup" - the Tories great vision for Brexit Britain. If the Queen's Speech is anything to go by we have freed ourselves from the shackles of the EU in order to do very little indeed. As Boris has previously proved as London mayor doing nothing may work initially as you also do nothing wrong but people will tire of nothing eventually and then what? Now Brexit is done, what will they attempt to distract us with next? Nothing good, I suspect.Animals to be formally recognised as sentient beings in UK law

Back from taking 'er indoors for her first dose of radiotherapy - she was planning on going on the train but an unexpected nose-bleed led to me getting the car out...anyway, all went well and the next nine doses are in the diary.
Anyway...

Isn't the obvious consequence of this "free speech law" simply that people who uni societies disapprove of just won't get invited anymore?

Here's the transcript of Evan Davis tying our Universities Minister in knots.

I just had a strange phone call from someone claiming my 'internet had a virus' and they could fix it if I transferred £535 to the account of a 'Mr B Johnson'.
Very suspicious.

No, it was definitely a male voice, and I'm fairly certain they were putting on a fake Indian accent, like something from a 70's sitcom. Also it was a bit muffled as if they were talking through a handkerchief.
He did waffle quite a bit and kept saying 'alas' which I thought was odd.

No, it wasn't me. I put all that sort of behaviour behind me after my arrest. I thought I'd told you.

You did mention it, but I understand that it can be difficult to stop this kind of thing entirely.
