I have a soft spot for son of Schmeichel.
More nostalgia (vis a vis his dad).
It was a much more exciting match than many, that's for sure. Deeply impressed by the guys playing with bandaged heads.

Also possibly should try and get out & meet people more

Good morfternoon.
How long did it take for many people to stop believing that Covid was "just like 'flu"? Apparently it is just like 'flu after all, according to Chancellor\Health Secretary Sajid Javid.

Some interesting economic proposals from Labour yesterday I thought.
but I thought there were restrictions from trade deals with other countries, which limited the ability to preferentially award contracts to domestic producers.
Also can't see why Tories couldn't do (or say/claim) same things (except if trade deals fo limit buy British policy, then could be interesting seeing Labour go against them for that reason ...)
Also with a consumer campaign it's not like it's not been tried in the past
https://voxeu.org/article/buy-british-v ... ial-policy
though article says Labour decided against it at one stage, because polling showed 50/50 split on whether consumers would buy British, which doesn't to me seem a good reason to not do it.

Its actually similar to what was proposed under Corbyn, which some on both sides of the factional divide might prefer to forget.

Maybe he's been more more socially isolated, than the rest of us and isn't quite up to speed yet.We are going to have to learn to accept the existence of Covid and find ways to cope with it – just as we already do with flu.

Even long-term "working-class" Tory Major Clanger is fed up with being considered expendible (by virtue of his age and general frailty) by the likes of Johnson and Javid.

While that Lord of the Rings slip from katharine Birbalsingh was really funny, even if she'd said what she meant to say she'd have been wrong.

They cooperated, got on fine, and survived remarkably well.

Nobody wants to see a chastened Clanger with a sad droopy snout, and I shouldn't be running away from my fears, I should be confronting them.
As such, given the latest research on hallucinogens and their beneficial effects in combatting mental health problems I shall take some magic mushrooms and stare at this for 15 hours.

Intrigued by the tweet Refitman provided above I took a dive into Katharine Birbalsingh's Twitter.
I knew nothing about her but a number of things became immediately apparent.
She appears to have no life at all if her multitude of tweets is anything to go by. She seems to be entirely bereft of anything resembling a sense of humour. She's thin skinned and doesn't take criticism well. If I had kids I wouldn't want them anywhere near her school.

This is magnificent. It completely defies explanation. Why are giant purple psychedelic foxes watching Nicolas Cage emerge from a banana? Is he like some kind of fruit mermaid? Is he a good source of Potassium? Will he go black and squishy if you leave him in the bowl for too long? And what are the giant purple psychedelic foxes? Are they beneficent gods looking down on banana mermaid Nicolas Cage with benevolence or do they want to eat him?

Re: Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th July 2021
Anyway back to the relentless grind of having to put up with being ruled over by morons.
PM to confirm 19 July end to Covid rules despite scientists’ warnings.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... gs-england
Just about everywhere in this country with a sizeable student population is seeing a huge number of infections. Cambridge, Oxford, York, Durham. Here in Leeds it has now, completely predictably, spread throughout the city. Soon they'll be going back home for the Summer and spreading it as far and as wide as wherever they come from. And it's not the students fault, there's been nothing in 'the rules' to stop them mixing and going to pubs and cafes and restaurants then infecting the staff who take it back to their families or just people on the bus or train.
The good news of course is that deaths and hospitilisations aren't rising in line with the infection rate due to vaccinations and the younger age of those infected, but giving a novel virus a breeding ground of millions of unvaccinated teenagers and kids is insane. The government are clearly now washing their hands of Covid and claiming they've done all they can and from now on it's up to us. Personal responsibility and all that Tory shit. I'd love to know how I can be personaly responsible for breathing in something that's only a few microns in size while on the train.
A friend of mine is a scriptwiter and was due to start work on a new show for ITV a fortnight ago. Unfortunately the doubly vaccinated producer contracted Covid 19 and as of Friday when I last asked about it, is still confined to his bed.
This virus has shown time and time again it's not to be messed with, and while I agree the vaccinations seem to be doing a spectacularly good job, let's not forget last Summer, even without them, we had a cacophony of people telling us it was beaten.
