Quiet this morning !

I signed this , then found out that it'll ONLY be a possibility to make a protest ...

Parliament will consider this for a debate
Parliament considers all petitions that get more than 100,000 signatures for a debate

Waiting for less than a day for a debate date

Government responded
This response was given on 12 August 2021

The Government does not intend to introduce legislation of this nature. MPs must abide by the Code of Conduct and conduct in the Chamber is a matter for the Speaker

--------------------------------------------

So will they take it down now ?

Morning PF & all.

Dominic Raab says 'no one saw this coming'.

Easy to believe no one in this govt saw it coming, but presumably we still have military intelligence who've probably been trying to tell them for months while Raab and co had their fingers in their ears.

Ben Wallace outed himself as a human being yesterday though so he'll probably get sacked soon.

@gilsey

Yes - it was disconcerting to be confronted by a Conservative minister (Ben Wallace) whose sole concern isn't money. He was visibly moved and, I suspect, spitting nails.

I was listening to the NATO proceedings yesterday and, at one point, thought that a bust-up between India and Pakistan was about to erupt.

And Joe Biden was tying himself up in knots in his speech yesterday. Did he read it through before delivering it?

"How is UK planning to help resettle Afghan refugees?

Ministers are expected to announce a ‘bespoke’ scheme similar to that put in place for Syrians in 2014

What has been announced?

So far, nothing.
But the foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, said on Tuesday morning that ministers were working on a “bespoke” resettlement scheme for vulnerable Afghans, in addition to the usual asylum system, modelled on the Syrian scheme. Raab said he could not give any details, as these would come “shortly” from Priti Patel, the home secretary, and from Boris Johnson." (Guardian - my emphasis)

Piling Pelion on Ossa.

And I hope that the Government is keeping Covid in mind when "planning" the resettlement, although I realise that holding two thoughts simultaneously will be an impossible challenge for them.

I see Twitter have tweaked the way their website works to prevent non-users from following any links or threads.
[edit: single tweets can still be viewed via external links]

Suits me, byeeee!

Good afternoon.

This is a good read (for those that can read it. Apologies to those who cannot)

Yes, yesterday Twitter made itself far less accessible to those who aren't signed in members. Totally self-defeating IMO.

(though I will probably give in and set up an account for myself soon, even though I have no intention of actually posting on it)

I have twitter but hardly ever post except to @threadreaderapp to ask for unrolls .
Public service !
The wrangling is so pointless, not getting involved in that :D

I thought it was coherent enough, certainly wouldn't expect everyone to agree though.

I mean, why would you want to mobilise the members? And I think someone got business-buzzword toilet paper.

Like this you mean?
Labour will work “collaboratively” in “multidisciplinary teams”, which will “adopt a product-mindset using agile ceremonies, be empowered to make decisions and encouraged to focus on rapid prototyping, deployment and iteration”.
'agile ceremonies' ???
