I've only just caught up and I'm mightily pissed off if that Evolve Politics tweet posted yesterday turns out to be true. I found this in the replies:

Now appears the superbrains that have been pushing this didn't run it past the unions first.....
Shades of that bungled attempt to abolish Tom Watson's job here.

Does/do Labour still have any interest at all in attempting to represent the diversity of British non-Tories?

Well there are a lot of people in "Labour" (still) But if you actually mean certain people in the upper echelons of the party, literally all they care about is the "HEROICALLY CRUSHING THE LEFT" cosplaying they learned in their NOLS days.

What's the story with Starmer and the selection of candidates? To me it looks like precisely the wrong direction to be going in.

Re: Tuesday 21st September 2021
The continuing joys of travelling through Bradford part infinity...
So tonight the excuse for exactly the same bus as last time not turning up at all was 'a lack of drivers', apparently like bin men across the country the bus drivers of Bradford are fleeing to Tesco and Amazon for better pay and conditions. Or possibly just to get away from their hideous customers.
Mind you, it could be worse, I could have been on Southern Trains.

You expect them to turn up and be clean as well? You ask a lot of we Southerners.

@tinyclanger2
I've given up on the Labour Party. I'm denied the pleasure of telling them so since they've not sent me a membership renewal request for at least 2 years now, although I'm still on their membership roll judging by the mailings I receive. At the moment they're touting for custom for Annual Conference.

Re: Tuesday 21st September 2021
The Labour party has absolutely zero interest in working with anyone other than those affiliated with it and even then it's under sufferance. It was this sort of absurd arrogance that saw it nearly wiped out in Scotland when it refused time and again to join any pacts against the SNP in the delusional hope it would regain its former glory. Despite its cooperative pretensions all the Labour party is interested in is power. For itself.
Sadly anyone hoping for any kind of left wing coalition to take down the tories is going to be disapppointed.
Forever.
Because too many in the Labour Party are arrogant, delusional, selfish dicks.

How your fellow Southerners put up with those trains is beyond me. At least the Northern train I ended up on tonight was clean and smelled ok. Possibly because they've been nationalised.
You tiny people of the South need to make more of a fuss.
Re: Tuesday 21st September 2021
I'd question their interest in power. They're interested in being on the poliical stage with plenty of limelight and as a solo act, though.
I agree with your closing sentence, though. Too many (though not quite all) are as you describe.

Sorry, bit of a musical non sequitur there, it was just in my head and I like men in cheap nylon.
Is there expensive nylon?
I just remember it made my hair stand on end and made sparks when I took my jumper off.

Really serious nylon used make a noise like a cracking whip and give a mild electric shock. Likewise anything with a high acrylic content.
