BBC "journalist" equates Jimmy Savile to trans women. Is this the ultimate transphobic reach, or is there still further to go?

Good afternoon.
Not often I agree with a Tory...I can see heads rolling over this though.

Truly incredible response from Yorkshire CC, almost as if we had been directly transported back to the 1970s.

I think that might be the least of the BBC's problems, regarding trans people, at the moment.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 1:05 pm BBC "journalist" equates Jimmy Savile to trans women. Is this the ultimate transphobic reach, or is there still further to go?

Well, who'd have thunk it?
Presumably they're doing this because, well, if Paterson falls, then how many others could be up next?

Govt trying to get Paterson off the hook.
Sir Jeremy Farrar has resigned from Sage.
Govt apparently looking round for lawyers who'll say ok to tearing up the NIP.
US journalist asks Johnson why he wasn't wearing a mask yesterday.
Just another day on Plague Island.

The response from Yorkshire CC doesn't surpise me at all. 'Paki' is common parlance in Yorkshire. As an outsider coming from the North East I have to say the level of overt, casual racism you get down here is absolutely shocking. As is the attitude that it's all just a bit of banter and anyway isn't paki just short for Pakistani? It's like they're proud of it.

The (dread phrase, I know) optics of letting him off are going to be pretty horrendous, though.RogerOThornhill wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 9:38 pm Well, who'd have thunk it?

I've been watching the Sewing Bee on the iPlayer and caught myself checking out fabulous sparkly velour t-shirts on Amazon for some reason.tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 10:05 pm Watched kind people saving people's lives on the RNLI programme this evening. That cheered me up.

Justified the recent smear job using a glorified Twiiter poll from a confirmed trans-hate group, by saying "some people liked it".refitman wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 8:36 pmI think that might be the least of the BBC's problems, regarding trans people, at the moment.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 1:05 pm BBC "journalist" equates Jimmy Savile to trans women. I'm not so sure it's about the optics. The problem Paterson has is it seems plenty of Tory MPs like him about as much as we do and he's not part of Johnson's loyal clique of untouchables.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 11:05 pm The (dread phrase, I know) optics of letting him off are going to be pretty horrendous, though.

No, not really. They justified it by saying it was backed up by other sources in the article. Which it was.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Tue 02 Nov, 2021 11:09 pm Justified the recent smear job using a glorified Twiiter poll from a confirmed trans-hate group, by saying "some people liked it".
Yes, really.
One of whom Refitman has ably demonstrated to be a thoroughly fucked up individual with hateful views.
That's the way to go about it.
If you want to tear strips off the BBC then fine by me, but at least do it honestly.

It's beginning to get dark at 4 o'clock, people are arguing on your forum, that niggling pain in your nether regions is getting worse, you're already worrying about Christmas.
Well just sit back and relax to the sounds of Julie Felix.

Next it will be parks and open spaces. Vast privately owned shopping malls should have acted as a warning. But did they? No, of course they didn't. I don't think people even understand what's been lost.Cash-strapped councils must sell off town halls and public toilets, warns minister
