Michael Crick started that ball rolling with his "you shouldn't call it corruption even if it is" line the other day.

Re: Saturday, 6th and Sunday, 7th November 2021
@AK --RE "calling corruption corruption" but it's unparliamentary language !
Which doesn't apply outside parliament !
Another diversion is saying the Tories 'accidentally' conflated the Paterson case with a (perceived) need for reform .
At least Clifton Brown on Toady did admit "if there's a need for reform."

Much ado about that No Appeal, like some more detail.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... rottenness" Let’s focus on the bullying and determination with which the government machine set about trying to give Paterson a “get out of jail free” card. For months, they lobbied anyone they could find. They spread noxious rumours about members of the committee. They tried to get the speaker to block the publication of our report. They endlessly misrepresented the process, claiming that witnesses statements were ignored (they weren’t), that Paterson was denied a fair hearing (he wasn’t), that the commissioner decides the sanction (she doesn’t), and that there was no appeal (there was). They lobbied individual members of the committee – which is itself a breach of the rules of the House, which can lead to a suspension. "

Re: Saturday, 6th and Sunday, 7th November 2021
As I understand it, the Commissioner investigates and reports to the Committee, the Committee's report goes to the House.
The subject of the investigation is involved at each separate stage, so AFAICS it's just a matter of defining 'appeal'.

I used to look at the Cohen to see when he introduced his Corbynophobia, because once it was only on a little afterthought paragraph tagged on right at the end .

Whoever put something in Keir's tea this morning needs to keep doing it. He was pretty good on Marr and managed to get top story on the BBC.
Owen Paterson: Boris Johnson's actions corrupt - Starmer
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59196404
I think there's been a definite shift this week. Take this for example from Caroline Lucas on QT the other night.
Last time she called Johnson a liar on the BBC Nick Robinson got all hot under the collar and told her off. This time she got a round of applause and Fiona Bruce never said a word.

@Sky
Nick Robinson was also politely told off by John Major when he tried the Remoaner Gambit .
(** No TV , but relying on you much-appreciated QT correspondents )
The bit where she told the Tory that people were laughing at him was also a Big Change ! **" Last time she called Johnson a liar on the BBC Nick Robinson got all hot under the collar and told her off. This time she got a round of applause and Fiona Bruce never said a word. "

Sutton Hoo of the north: £10.4m visitor centre to celebrate Anglo-Saxon site
https://www.theguardian.com/science/202 ... saxon-site
To be fair to me I had passed out and fallen into a Christmas tree the night before.
Also if you do ever find yourself in Wooler where the visitor centre is being built do yourself a favour and visit the Doddington Milk bar.

Where I would suggest you ignore all other distractions, head straight for the fridge, and buy every variety of cheese you can find.
https://www.theguardian.com/science/202 ... saxon-site
It's a wonderful place but it does need a visitor centre because at Ad Gefrin itself there's absolutely nothing to see besides some faint marks in the grass in a couple of fields. Of further interest to connoisseurs of history there may still be the remains of my vomit after a disastrous, failed attempt at climbing Yeavering Bell (the 'hill of goats' next to it which does have actual goats) on Boxing day 2018 with a raging hangover.Story of Ad Gefrin, a royal complex in Northumberland valley discovered in 1950s, to be told at new attraction

I often post music on here just because it "fits", but I actually think that one's also, coincidentally, rather good.

He was on Marr distorting the very fabric of spacetime by claiming that giving 3 million pounds to the Conservative party for a seat in the house of lords was philanthropy. Reality was so distressed by this you could almost see a Tom Baker Dr Who vortex forming around him.

It really is a sorry state of affairs when your sacked ex-manager working with about 20% of your budget has his team playing far better football than yours.

The question remains why things have gone so wrong now, though.
We have plentiful evidence from the previous couple of seasons that the present United manager is capable of better than this.

Amongst other things his ongoing insistence on playing Fred who resembles a footballer in the same way I resemble scrambled egg on toast.

Ok fine.
Heads is it reminds you of riding a giant space turtle to Saturn's moon Titan to retreive the long lost sacred beads of Ariadne.
Tails is it reminds you of dressing up in mens clothes quite a while ago hanging around in Whitechapel.
