I think this is a great idea. It's only applicable to office type jobs though, I assume. Care work, hospitality, retail, transport etc can't reduce hours in the same way and still have the same output. A four day week would mean a pay rise in these kind of jobs plus the need for more employees overall - creating the conditions for such a shift in working norms could be a bit more challenging.

But they lost marks because they didn't consider: job losses due to automation and job losses from inefficient competitors losing business.

Peter Bone was in great comic form on Newsnight last night, when asked about his constituents' views about Johnson he claimed that he hadn't had any complaints, quite the contrary in fact. He alleged that not only had his Tory constituents told him they love and worship Johnson, but his staff had polled areas that didn't usually vote Conservative and they also thought Johnson was wonderful. It was hard to tell if he was being serious or not because he seemed highly amused throughout the entire interview. Or maybe just high.

It's only now, that they've been made to look a little foolish, that they've turned on him. They could have used the 100s of 1000s of Covid deaths to attack him, but they just decided not to.

And it's not like they're now presenting Labour as a credible alternative - it's just who's going to replace Johnson and more of the same please.

The problem is whether we like it or not millions of people in this country think Johnson has handled Covid well and won't be told otherwise.

No British Prime Minister has ever been forced out due to their own bad behaviour, Johnson is about to go down in history as the first. Would it have been better if it had been as a result of his policies? Aguably. But him being the first to get the boot for being an arrogant dick and pissing the country off will do for me.

Labour have tried to link other Tories in with these events, but if the media make it all about (*their* creation) BoJo they can only do so much.

Its one reason why we should hope for this saga to drag on for a while yet, more chance it will taint the wider party by association.

Also notable that they've known about at least some of the parties from the beginning. Someone's decided Johnson's outlived his usefulness.

Let's remember the course of events here. Until Johnson tried to get Owen Paterson off by changing the law he was king of the fucking world. He could do anything. Then he arrogantly went too far and all of a sudden he was no longer bulletproof. Public opinion was against him and whoever wanted to assassinate him realised it was time to strike. There's no mystery about the timing, it was perfectly timed. They waited until he was vulnerable then pounced.
