Rory Stewart has his failings, but credit to him for realising that its not just Johnson that is the problem and things won't be "back to normal" when he goes away.

If you've ever wondered if crypto-currency and NTFs are a scam, the short answer is "yes". The long answer is a fascinating 2hr+ video:

I presume that is in response to the Nus Ghani allegations?
Pretty explosive stuff.

So whip Mark Spencer confesses it was him that offended Nusrat Ghani, but says that there is no substance to her claims!

Apparently if you add all the trucks in the lorry parks to the queue at Dover it would stretch back nearly to London!
Re: Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd January 2022
For years I've wondered why Sayeeda Warsi stays in the tory party, now I'm wondering about Nus Ghani as well. Why?

Without saying the two things are equivalent (they're not) much the same reasons many Jews stayed in Labour through the Corbyn years?
There are some Muslims who will be in sympathy with centre-right/right wing politics more generally.

Talking about Dover...this clown pops up on my Twitter timeline as someone I follow follows him, Lords knows why though.

Re: Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd January 2022
I've been noticing an absurd claim going around that according to ONS data only 17,000 people in the UK have died from Covid19.
Here's a good twitter thread explaining why it's bollocks.
In short it requires both a (presumably willful) misunderstanding of definitions used and the bizarre assumption that anyone with any underlying condition from asthma to a sprained ankle would have died even if they hadn't caught Covid.

Obvious bull***t claim perpetrated by obvious bull***t people.
But yes, nice to see it debunked so thoroughly.

Re: Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd January 2022
The Tories in West Yorkshire seem to be able to find an endless supply of them to stand in areas with significant Muslim minorities. Which seems an odd electoral strategy, they may attract a portion of the Muslim vote but they put off far more of the foaming at the mouth racists the Tories fondly call their base. We had one here at the last GE for the first time, the Tory vote dropped by almost a third. So it could be said, in Yorkshire at least, that the Conservatives' willful blindness when it comes to Islamophobia, especially amongst their supporters, is doing them actual harm.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Sun 23 Jan, 2022 1:06 pm There are some Muslims who will be in sympathy with centre-right/right wing politics more generally.

@ak
I know you explicitly said there was no equivalence, but perhaps the Jews who stayed in Labour mainly believed (rightly I think) that Corbyn supported them.
Muslims surely know that Johnson has, let’s say, questionable views on Muslims. There is clear evidence of this.

Prisoners of the Ghostland
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6372694/
(Full of spoilers. Do not read or watch video if you wish to avoid them.)
In this slice of magnificent near impossible to describe insanity Nicolas Cage finds himself in jail In Samurai Town. The Governor tasks Cage with retreiving his daughter who has absconded, but there's a catch. Cage is dressed up in a black leather onesie with explosive charges at his neck, elbows, ankles and testicles. They'll go off if he's not back in three days, if he thinks about hurting her, or if becomes sexually aroused by her (I think).
To give a flavour of the exquisite lunacy of this film, Cage is given some kind of powerful sports car to get to Ghostland and rescue the Governor's daughter, he drives it a few yards, then gets out and jumps onto a pink girls bike with a basket on the front and rides off on that instead.
Eventually he reaches Ghostland which is like someone did a Japanese Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome for about £50 and nothing makes any sense but it doesn't matter. For example there's a bloke on a stage reading Wuthering Heights while people try to stop a giant clock from ticking by holding onto the second hand with a rope and another guy dresses people up in mannequin parts without explanation. One thing leads to another and Cage locates the daughter but while attempting to extract her he gives her a drink of water and (presumably because he's becoming sexually aroused) one of the testicle bombs goes off. His reaction to this defies my ability to explain it.
See for yourself.
I have to say you're either going to love this one or you're going to hate it. Despite having no idea what the fuck was going on half the time I thought it was great fun.
Consequently it gets a 9/10 on the Cageometer.

Re: Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd January 2022
From the Telegraph article.
Seriously what the fuck? This is arse over tits. That bonkers Nicolas Cage film I just watched made more sense than this. Have the Met been too scared to bring a Prime Minister down or too compromised? Both could be true of course. Or maybe they're just fans. I wonder if they'd have been so keen to protect Theresa May, I seem to recall the police unions really didn't like her. She may have been awful in just about every other respect but she stood up to them when it came to stop and search, whereas Johnson has given them carte blanche. This all fucking stinks. One source said on Sunday night: “Met officers have spoken to Sue Gray now, as you would expect, and have been able to provide a lot of information.”
Asked how significant the material they had disclosed was, the source added: “Put it this way, if Boris Johnson is still Prime Minister by the end of the week, I’d be very surprised.”

Has there been any news from Notnowsonny about his and his wife's Covid infections?

Also that guy from Northumbria University killing himself leaving a wife and kids wasn't good.
Stupid sod.
The Mail tried to blame Michael Rosen of course but their site allows you to look at the least popular comments on any article and their very least popular comment was one defending Rosen while pointing out the article had misrepresented what he'd said. It had more green upticks than red downticks. So even the most downvoted comment still had a majority supporting him. Which surprised me.
It genuinely saddens me that this man took his own life, he may have been a prick, but surely life is all about compromise and making allowances and not fucking destroying people's lives because we don't agree with them. The wonderful thing about life is there are a multiplicity of possibilities and opinions and we should cherish that and not try and force our narrow opinions on anyone else outside reasoned argument.
Yes I know I'm a fine one to talk.
