The Governor of the BoE is an idiot. The solution to excess demand is raising interest rates, we don't have excess demand but we're raising rates anyway.

Bailey added that the UK is not in a normal situation.

The ‘normal situation’ is that demand in the economy gets ahead, and there’s too much demand relative to supply. That puts pressure on prices, pressure on wages, and the Bank of England comes in and raises interest rates to calm it all down.

We’re not in that world. This is a world of external prices rising, reducing people’s real income.

The whole govt has completely failed to realise how serious it is, out of touch is putting it mildly. May take a while to unfold.

I worked out our own figures today, we don't have gas so the quoted averages aren't relevant. The bad news is, yes, going up 50% ish.
The good news is that before our supplier went bust they'd hiked the DDs to get more cash in, so our monthly payment won't need to go up much at all.
