Despite the repression, lots of evidence emerging that the prospect of Belarus getting fully involved in Russia's war is not popular with its own people.

The aftermath of this taking out both Putin and Lukashenko would be nice.

Good morfternoon.

Roman Abramovich who, to the best of my recollection, has previously denied being close to Vladamir Putin, reportedly intends to use his relationship with that same Vladamir Putin to mediate in the current situation. This is apparently in response to a request from the Ukraine Government.

Truss playing a blinder I see...

No 10 distances itself from Truss comments on UK volunteers for Ukraine

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... or-ukraine
Downing Street has publicly distanced itself from Liz Truss’s suggestion that Britons should be able to join the fight in Ukraine, saying this would contravene travel advice and people should instead consider making a donation instead.

While not directly criticising the foreign secretary, Boris Johnson’s official spokesperson stressed that the Foreign Office currently advises against travel to Ukraine. It is understood that officials believe it would also be illegal for Britons to travel there with the intention of taking up arms.
When this was first reported I thought at the time it had been made illegal after Britons going to fight with ISIS.

Though in practice these bans are selectively enforced, some who have in the past gone to fight for Kurdish forces have received little or no sanction.

After 1989 every opportunity to "turn swords into ploughshares" was 'lost' ... ?
