Rebekah Brooks promoted one of her most senior journalists on the Sun by scrawling a job description on a Post-it note, a jury has heard.

The yellow note, now 10 years old, was produced in Kingston crown court on Monday in the trial of Graham Dudman, the paper’s former managing editor.

After a brief objection by the prosecution, which had not seen the note, it was passed around the jury.

Actually, fair play to the lady. I rather like that approach to process.

HR departments used to be called personnel and universally known as anti personnel. So using a post-it note to bypass them is fabulous.

They are quite clear in their rules that you cannot abuse their journalists. Wintour has a very thin skin, Kettle rather less so.

The Guardian does tolerate quite a bit of abuse, and if you are banned use a proxy server and get another account.

Or just ignore them.

Such investment would have been a useful boost to the economy at the time and could have helped keep Labour's recovery going. Instead we have last minute promises of extra money to be spent, even though Osborne is way off balancing the books. Surely people will ask, if we can afford this investment now, when we still have most of the deficit to reduce, why couldn't we afford it 4 1/2 years ago. And they'd be right to ask, because of course we could have afforded then, as well, and could be reaping the benefits from that investment already.

It's not a Free School i.e. a new school but an academy which was sponsored w.e.f. 1st Jan 2013.

The odd thing is that they have 2 schools...the other one is in Eddisbury in Cheshire. What was that I said about having trusts with schools miles from each other?

Edit - having said that free schools are new schools...it also includes ex-fee paying schools so not strictly true but everyone knows my feelings on the definitions of free schools and academies...

In two minds about this ... because it sounds as though the practice was trying to give good information about other services available but ... that should happen as an addition to the GP service not instead of. GPs are, supposedly, the gateway to treatment - very hard to expect people to bypass them and know that they will still receive the appropriate care etc.

And the reasons the GP practice give in their leaflet for providing such information give the lie to Lansley, Clegg, Hunt & cos reorganisation of the health service and GPs knowing their patients best etc guff. These GPs aren't going to know some of their patients at all if they take their advice.

Best things would be for them to come directly under the Birmingham schools "Tsar"- who was a surprisingly sensible appointment by Nicky Morgan. Can't remember who though.

I can't see it's worth voting for someone because they just announced something for you. Unless the Opposition says they'll cancel it, you'll get it anyway.

News of the qualifications, developed by exam board OCR, comes with controversy over immigration at the top of the political agenda.

The board hopes that including the topic will encourage more teenagers to take history. Mike Goddard, the board’s head of history, also suggested that knowledge of previous waves of migration into the UK could also help contemporary discussion on the issue.

“The history of migration into our country doesn’t necessarily inform these debates and potentially it could do in a useful way,” he told TES.

Significant periods of immigration since Roman times will be covered in a topic included in two new history GCSEs being developed by the board for first teaching from September 2016.

Look North tonight had trawled their archives to find previous ministers 'committing' to dualling the A1 north of Morpeth, I think there were 4, but that might just have been all they could find in the time available.
We should laugh, or cry, but instead will shrug cynically and believe it when we see the work start.
