Mordaunt's team seemed to post, then delete a lot of tweets during the debate

I mean, there's so much to unpack in just that short tweet - how was this "official list" of 180 defined for example? And indeed, why 180 specifically??

Sort of sums up what wasn't a great day for her overall. She wasn't as horrific as Truss in the debate, but that is a low bar indeed.

Heatwave hasn't arrived here yet, 26C yesterday and rain this am.

It was over 28 one day last week but we were in Scotland so we missed that.

Here it goes again —
Do you talk to Starmer much?
Well, he’s my MP. When Arsenal played Burnley a few months ago, we arranged to meet up for a cup of tea after the game. And a woman came up and asked him: “Why aren’t you miles ahead of these terrible Tories.” He said the first part of his job had been to clear up the mess of antisemitism after Jeremy Corbyn. The second part was to show that this lot are unfit to govern. And the third part was to show Labour has a plan for the country. That’s where we are.”
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... -interview

That’s why the LP has been short on original thinking, anything remotely resembling inspiration !

I will be disappointed if the woman quoted in that passage didn't actually use the words "20 points ahead".

31° C here in Leeds, in the shade with a mostly overcast sky according to my trusty thermometer. Not cool man.

Oh god, what fresh hell is this? Brexit 're-done'? Is she going to reheat brexit and make us all have it for breakfast or is she going to be more ambitious and produce some kind of bubble and squeak monstrosity by adding some rotting turnip and putrid culled pig flesh. Yum.

Could anyone explain to me why the World Economic Forum has suddenly become the bogeyman of the lunatic right in this country? It seems to have come out of nowhere and now I'm seeing nutters going on about the 'WEF' all over the Mail and Twitter while denouncing its founder Klaus Schwab, who I've never heard of in my life, and accusing each other's Tory candidates of being in his pocket.

It all sounds very Illuminati/QAnon to me.

]Reading under the tree, felt warm so came in for a drink , 33° !
Called the Kitten, he seemed pleased to come inside too, tho he seems very resistant to temperature . He arrived before Christmas from his Rescue fosterhome and seemed quite happy to be outside all night in winter . He just tested the great outside and came smartly back to stretch out on the floor, but is now outside again, curled up in the shade. .

Well that was a bit more entertaining than the debate on Friday.

After watching that they'd be mad not to go with Sunak, but most of the Tory membership are mad so they won't.

As for the rest.

Kemi Badenoch, claimed to be a friend of the unions and defender of journalists. Get to fuck.
Liz Truss, a deranged Thunderbirds puppet.
Tom Tugendhat, I was in the army, did I mention I was in the army?
Penny Mordaunt, her mouth opens, words come out, and they swirl around to form a miasma of obfuscatory insubstantial waffle.

Please Tories, for the love of god vote for that freak Truss, it would be really funny, but honestly, besides Sunak I can't see Labour being overly worried by any of them. Mordaunt certainly would have been better off without these debates, I was expecting her to get into the final two but I'm seriously beginning to doubt that now, she's absolutely hopeless.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention a classic Liz Truss moment. She claimed she'd got into Conservative politics because she saw her fellow pupils at a comprehensive in Leeds being let down. She's 46 so, unless I'm mistaken, her entire time at school would have been spent under a Tory education system.

Thanks Gilsey, absolutely splendid, and you managed to get a picture of a woolly kelpie! Quite rare those, looks like a juvenile.

I absolutely love the white beaches and torquoise sea you get in the Hebrides (when it's sunny).

Islay looks great, would you recommend a trip? I've only done Mull and Barra from the Hebrides, unless I cheat and count going to Skye when I was 6 which my dad still recounts as the worst experience of his life (An old WWII army tent + midges).

Now that you mention it I vaguely recall him saying something along those lines about 75 times. It was like he had a very peculiar form of Tourette's.

Imagine being his wife.

"Tom, what time are we supposed to be arriving at Simon and Jeanette's party on Friday?"

"I was in the army you know!"

"Tom, did you contact those professional hitmen about killing Mrs Jenkins? I'm not having her growing bigger marrows than me again this year."

"I was in the army you know!"

"Tom, you realise this is your one and only chance of becoming Prime Minister and if you fuck it up I'm leaving you and going to live on Tahiti as a beachcomber? I shall build a shack from driftwood and make my living providing sexual favours to sailors."

"I was in the army you know!"

"Oh for fuck's sake. You weren't in the army Tom, how many times do you have to be told this? You had a cold, drank too much Benylin and had a dream. None of it was real Tom, none of it. Come back to me Tom. Please come back to me."

"I was in the army you know!"
