Good afternoon. Library day has shifted to include Friday as well.

Trade minister sacked over misconduct allegations
Conor Burns has been sacked as trade minister after a complaint was made against him, Downing Street has said. A No 10 spokesperson said:
Following a complaint of serious misconduct, the prime minister has asked Conor Burns MP to leave the government with immediate effect.
The prime minister took direct action on being informed of this allegation and is clear that all ministers should maintain the high standards of behaviour – as the public rightly expects.
It comes amid reports the Tories have also suspended him from the party after allegations about his behaviour at its conference this week. Burns told the Sun he would “fully cooperate with the [party’s] investigation and looks forward to clearing his name”.

Good grief, are they trying to get the polling into single figures?

I guess the Scando-Dutch model of high tax for a better quality of life all round, doesn't appeal much to post-Thatcher Britain.
That or PR.

Some buildings.
Graffiti.
Wolverhampton Railway Station.
That alone is one of the best bits of poetry I've come across in a long while. Possibly ever.

Can we add the Treasury to the anti-growth coalition?
If something else I saw can be believed the OBR were looking at a £60bn black hole. Can't imagine markets liking that very much.

It appealed to many in 2017 but then they were talked out of it.tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Fri 07 Oct, 2022 9:24 pm I guess the Scando-Dutch model of high tax for a better quality of life all round, doesn't appeal much to post-Thatcher Britain.

If you loosely define the AV as PR, people were talked out of that as well, on the grounds that Clegg deserved a good kicking.

That is a very loose definition tbf, and Clegg previously describing it as a "miserable little compromise" very possibly sunk it at the start.

Well indeed, I don't think many had that on their tick lists.
