Thanks for the QT review, sky.
For Wales TUC we had Shavanah Taj. Shavanah explained how people asking her where she was really from was such a regular occurrence that she'd done one of those ancestry DNA tests and had the results on her phone as an answer to show to morons.
Brilliant.

Ngozi Fulani's tweet was the first thing I saw the other day, my immediate reaction was to wonder how many people that had happened to at Royal events over the years, and not just with Lady Hussey. Hats off to Fulani for calling it out.

Labour received 17,309 votes with 61.22% of the vote share, its highest majority and share of the vote ever in the seat. Conversely, the Conservatives received just 6,335 votes and a 22.4% vote share, their worst result in the constituency since 1832. The Liberal Democrats came a distant third on 2,368 votes.
The predictive polls overstated the tory vote.

Given the circumstances that led to the byelection, Labour can be pretty content (as can the LibDems actually)

As for Reform - ha ha.

Wonder if this would have happened without Johnson saying he would fight the seat again.

From the G live blog:
Rees-Mogg said he hopes to run again at the next election in one of the seats set to emerge out of North East Somerset.
I think we can safely assume it's going to be mine, which is currently proposed as North East Somerset and Hanham. If I lived just a few miles further east I'd be in the proposed Frome constituency which must surely have a good chance of going Libdem. Has anyone seen any articles on the proposed boundaries? I haven't come across much yet.

Yet we still have Rentaghoul saying the result was a disaster for Labour.

Very mysterious (or not)

Thanks gilsey. I guess they'll be more about it next year when the new boundaries are confirmed. I think Rees-Mogg might struggle to get re-elected on the current proposals, though. Even if the Tories regain a lot of ground, the constituency will more resemble the one Dan Norris used to hold for Labour.

Well this World Cup hasn't wanted for surprises, at least.
