Re: Friday 23rd December 2022
Oh God, do we really have to do this?
https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/202 ... ition-billThe Guardian has been told that a former adviser to Boris Johnson is behind the UK government’s response to the new gender reform laws. Dougie Smith, who coordinated the “war on woke” pursued by the Johnson administration, has been tasked with “weaponising” the issue of trans rights before the next election.
One cabinet source claims the long-term Tory fixer, who is close to Sunak, is acting as “puppet master” to the equalities minister, Kemi Badenoch, who is fronting the government’s strategy. He was said to be behind Johnson’s strategy to stir divisions on racial, heritage and cultural issues to ally the Tories with working-class voters in “red wall” seats.
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/li ... itics-liveOn the Today programme this morning Helena Kennedy, the Scottish KC and Labour peer, said it would be “absolute folly” for the Westminster government to block the Scottish gender recognition reform bill. She said:
For many, many years Scotland has been able to pass its own laws and to operate its own legal system. And that is no different now.
And the idea that the Scottish parliament should be overridden by Westminster because the Conservative party don’t like this would really be very disruptive to the unity of the United Kingdom. And I think that that would be absolute folly.

It sounded as tho the Toady journo wanted to make a deal of the immunity debt rubbish, but was pre-empted ...?
Curious indeed that a photo in his thread is of a crowded lecture hall of med students, and not a mask in sight ? Looked like a lovely cluster to me !

Its not exactly rocket science that Covid infections will go up in a holiday period, at the end of the day.

Well, that was a long, wet drive down to Bristol. My sister has left a pork pie and a meat pie for me though
