Good morning.
We are now the proud possessors of a hospital bed in our front room to enable 'er indoors to be more comfortable during the day.
I would imagine the people at The Guardian are none too pleased at Sturgeon messing up their big investigative splash on a team meddling in election using disinformation & hacking. I could imagine the guy in charge of the website going "Oh FFS Nicola not now!"

This is much bigger news than Corbyn, in truth. Maybe two dozen SNP seats *may* have become significantly more competitive come the next GE.

Whether or not you agree with how big the issue was or even if it was an issue, this is, at least, one fewer stick with which to beat the Party.

Its one seat, and even if Corbyn stands and wins as an Independent there is a good chance it will be dwarfed by events elsewhere.

It's just unnecessary foot-shooting. The same as with the Tory departmental spending thing. Clowns.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Wed 15 Feb, 2023 11:37 amIts one seat, and even if Corbyn stands and wins as an Independent there is a good chance it will be dwarfed by events elsewhere.

I agree that the latter was suboptimal.
(so much so, that I actually wonder if they originally intended to "lead" it with something much bigger - only for that to be pulled at the last minute)

Would be interested to know exactly where in Gateshead our Sky was referring to last night, there was a block of flats nearby when I lived there in the late 80s.
(no idea if it is still there now)

If you look for St Cuthbert's road in Gateshead that's where it was. By some considerable distance the worst place I've ever lived and I've lived in some shitholes.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Wed 15 Feb, 2023 2:50 pm Would be interested to know exactly where in Gateshead our Sky was referring to last night

Re: Wednesday 15th February 2023
I for one am genuinely sad to see Nicola Sturgeon go. She was one of the few politicians in this country I had any respect for and she'll be sorely missed by the SNP.
The gloating and sneering in the English press says far more about them than it does about her and I include the Guardian in that.

Ah, not quite where I was domiciled - which was near to the Gateshead Stadium metro station.

Stanley Johnson, no less, agreed that Hezza won that one hands down. For someone who will be 90 next month he isn't doing too bad, it has to be said.

Thing is though they're right. I've been using my remainer ninja powers to sabotage brexit for years without anyone suspecting a thing. I'll have to be a bit more careful now because it looks like they could be on to me.

To be honest that seems distasteful to say the least and a horribly disrespectful thing to be doing at a vigil.
If you don't like Starmer fair enough, but there's a time and a place and this isn't it.

Re: Wednesday 15th February 2023
Oh, I missed it. Ah well, never mind
Re: Wednesday 15th February 2023
Starmer's stated view is that at 16, Brianna should not be allowed to be buried as the gender she identified as. He also whipped the Labour Party to prevent the Scottish gov from enacting powers that would allow others to get recognition. In my mind, it's a perfect chant for a situation like this.Sky'sGoneOut wrote: ↑Wed 15 Feb, 2023 10:02 pm To be honest that seems distasteful to say the least and a horribly disrespectful thing to be doing at a vigil.

One of the campaigns getting started at the moment, is to get Brianna a GRC, so she can be buried as a woman and not under her dead name.

Re: Wednesday 15th February 2023
I understand all that but it doesn't change my view that behaviour like that at a vigil is distasteful and disrespectful, not to mention counterproductive. What do they think shouting abuse at Starmer during a vigil is going to achieve besides handing their opponents another stick to beat them with? It looks absolutely terrible.refitman wrote: ↑Wed 15 Feb, 2023 10:08 pm Starmer's stated view is that at 16, Brianna should not be allowed to be buried as the gender she identified as. You know what, I don't think that they're trying to work out the perfect optics at this very moment in time.

Re: Wednesday 15th February 2023
Evidently not. It's not just the optics though, it just seems like depressingly stupid behaviour from of people who who would no doubt complain about the polarisation of politics against them. I find it genuinely sad.
We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
