Kudos to all those in Israel who are risking a great deal to defend democracy.
Could it actually happen here? I'm going to confound the cynics and say yes, given the right circumstances it actually could.

Re: Monday 27th March 2023
Let's be real shall we, Miliband didn't issue a ridiculous self-pitying statement when the ERHC report came out.
(against the agreement previously made with Starmer as well)
Without that, Corbyn might still be a Labour MP.

Re: Monday 27th March 2023
The reason for removing Corbyn from the parliamentary party, was the uncontrolled, rampant antisemitism that happened on his watch. Now that Forde has come out, they've had to make up another reason - that would seem to exclude the last two GE .leaders.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar, 2023 12:46 pm Let's be real shall we, Miliband didn't issue a ridiculous self-pitying statement when the ERHC report came out.

If you can't see how much of a stitch up this is...
Re: Monday 27th March 2023
Cool, the SNP rejected the bigot
Re: Monday 27th March 2023
And they said Corbyn's media messaging was poor

I got whiplash from the tone change. He couldn't have just congratulated him? He had to try and attack as well? Just makes him look like an insincere dick.
Re: Monday 27th March 2023
So, Labour are going to lose Islington then

Fair enough then, one ex-Labour MP who doesn't always follow the whip in any event wins. What difference does it make in broader terms?

Re: Monday 27th March 2023
Evening all.
I remember a time when I used to have fun. Life has gotten in the way a bit since then and forced me to be a bit more serious - but that's not why life is no longer fun. Am trying to reflect on it, and it's something do with the freedom of thought. If I think something different from what's prescribed (for whatever reason either way) does this automatically make me evil?

On other matters have just received my copy of my Spring 2023 Lifeboat magazine. It's full of gems, but among my favourite lines is: "After a busy weekend celebrating Clovelly's Herring Festival ...."

Neat clips of Starmer cuddles with Corbyn, and agreeing with his policies --
Re: Monday 27th March 2023
I'm amazed that you can't see how incredibly embarrassing this will probably be for Labour.AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Mon 27 Mar, 2023 7:10 pm Fair enough then, one ex-Labour MP who doesn't always follow the whip in any event wins. What difference does it make in broader terms?
They could have just let Corbyn retreat to the backbenches. But instead, they confected charges against him to suspend him from the party, then had to change their reasoning to prevent him from standing and now they will lose the seat to him. All he will have to do, is sit in Parliament as a demonstration of the petty vindictiveness of the right of the Labour Party.
Oh yes, the 'sensible grown-ups' are fully in charge now.
Re: Monday 27th March 2023
I wonder if this has anything to do with Starmer's decisions?

Good evening.
"Oh, hang on. I didn't mean them..."
Wonder whether it's examples that this that will sink the Bill?

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

Re: Monday 27th March 2023
I stand by my comment, Corbyn's appeal now outside his crank cult base is highly exaggerated IMO. Most people actually noticed the 2019 GE result.

Re: Monday 27th March 2023
It's not about the rest of the country though. It's about the constituents of Islington North and the local party. It's about removing the ability for then to choose the MP they want, who had served them for several decades.
