What this really means is that *the current version of the Tory party* could never win under anything but FPTP.

I thought maybe being sober was to blame for me finding this the most boring Eurovision ever but my mate's drinking and he's saying the same.

For what it's worth...top three - Moldova, Croatia, Serbia. But in truth there wasn't a single decent tune amongst the lot of them and I usually like at least a one or two.

I'd managed to avoid the UK effort until now and thought it sucked but then I thought all of the favourites sucked. That caterwauling Swedish lass was absolutely bloody awful.

It was sad that Mr Finland didn't make my suggested alterations to his costume but he did ok, in fact his performance was much better than the video.

As for Belgium, after about 30 seconds I decided going for a wee was a better use of my time.

Forgive me for sounding cynical, but to me this explains exactly how so many of the Eurovision "judges" mysteriously voted for Sweden's beigetastic Abba redo.

This is Eurovision - musical merit has hardly been the only thing deciding the thing in its 67 year history.

Finland was hardly big on musical merit - but it was ace fun. Sweden was a dirge perfomed by a constipated individual singing an old song.

So I went to the Opera House to listen to some pianists. They were mostly excellent but one Brazilian woman played a piece which she described as 'a conversation with her baby'. It was her playing piano over a loop of her baby crying for about 10 minutes. I don't know about you lot but the sound of a baby crying sets my teeth on edge and makes me want to throw the damn thing in the bin. She even provided a monologue about how having the baby made the universe magical or some such shit.

Let me just make one thing clear, there is nothing special about having a child. Animals have been reproducing for 500 million years without making a fuss about it. Your baby might be special to you but for everyone else it's a noisy, ugly homunculus that you should keep to yourself.
