Re: Tuesday 11th July 2023
This weekend's Times headlined a NHS death from mesothelioma, informing about how many hospitals and schools were still potentially dangerous . Of course fixing them would cost billions and our systems of government are not suited to anything long term .
On a shorter time-scale improving ventilation and air-purifying in schools and hospitals would be far far cheaper with fast results on public health , but again very very little is done !
Another subject is LC, where govts stick fingers in ears and go lalala --

BBC: Tim Davie to hold press conference as row grows over presenter accused of paying for explicit pictures – live

Showing again how "row" is almost invariably such a lazy cop-out word.

I noticed the live thread , and studiously ignored it as I do with all the articles . Radio4 switch-off guaranteed too .AnatolyKasparov wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul, 2023 12:15 pmShowing again how "row" is almost invariably such a lazy cop-out word.
In misfits corner , yet another weirdo -
Between 2019-2021, conservative commentator Calvin Robinson was also listed as a governor of the school, and held the position of Senior Fellow responsible for Education Policy at the Conservative-linked Policy Exchange think tank in 2020, but is no longer in role as of 2023.

Re: Tuesday 11th July 2023
Good afternoon.
Most of what is written in that Byline article you would have read on here years ago because I posted about it. Also, Robinson was a director for only about 19 months whereas the standard term for a governor is 4 years. Why did he give up? No idea.
There were 2 other directors which that article missed - Daisy Christodolou who was there as curriculum lead for the first 6 months, and I had thought that Harriet Sergeant was as well but can't find her there on Companies House.
I remember saying years ago that Michaela had the kind of support from the DfE afforded no other school - they had to sink or swim. But this one was too important so they thre everything 9and everyone) at it.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

Sorry, but calling out immediately the idea that anybody will be blocked *just* for "supporting Jeremy Corbyn".
At the very least, there will be an errant social media post or endorsement somewhere down the line.

While yes this is childish and I'm by no means a fan of 'Supertanskiii', fair play to her for getting Mrs Cornelius-Mercer trending as 'Felicity Minge'.

I was really hoping it was Gregg Wallace but it would appear I'm to be sadly disappointed.

As someone, like Johnson, with a 2:1 in Classics I think it should be pointed out that Odysseus was a dick.
Tasked with getting his men home from Troy to Ithaca, guess how many of them made it back besides himself? The answer is none, not a single one of them. By being a dick in various ways he got them eaten by a Cyclops, turned into pigs, hooked on drugs, eaten by giant cannibals, before they were eventually shipwrecked leaving only Odysseus alive. And they weren't all on just one ship, he started out with a fleet of 12, each with a crew of about 50, so that's around 599 men he managed to get killed.
Of course his excuse was that Poseidon was out to get him but that's what they all say isn't it? It's always someone else's fault with these people.

I watched the debate for as long as I could stomach it and that clip of Stephen Kinnock has been taken completely out of context, he was supporting the Lords amendments and saying we should meet our obligations under international law. He gave a good speech and it does the Labour left no favours to misrepresent people this way.
Here is his speech from Hansard because I can't find a video.

I mean it's not like there isn't ammunition enough without making shit up. God knows I'm no fan of Cooper or Kinnock the younger but I thought the Left was all about fairness, reason, and being kind. Not being arseholes and wilfully misrepresenting people.
