Morning all.
Re: Friday 4th August 2023
Morning refit
Inflation in Spain ... 2% !
” In forthcoming IPPR analysis we show that a large chunk of (UK) businesses have either maintained or increased their profit margins in 2022. At the same time, many landlords were able to raise their rents in line with inflation – something that the temporary rent control policy in Spain was able to contain. If the costs of inflation were fairly shared, businesses and landlords would also take a hit and absorb some of the costs, rather than workers taking most of the hit.”

Regulated rent rises in France -- 3.5% ...
EDIT -- I do know how those repetitions happened !
The right hand has the shakes, not from DT's but a stroke in 2009 .

Yes the Spanish economy is doing quite well, maybe one reason for the recent "surprise" election result there.

Re: Friday 4th August 2023
From yesterday's police statement.
If they didn't cause any damage and the nearest 'public' was 3 miles away, how does that work?
Presumably making a nuisance of yourself to the police is sufficient.
A protest at the Prime Minister’s residence at Kirby Sigston has now concluded.
North Yorkshire Police was made aware at 08:06 (03 August 2023) this morning of a number of protesters climbing onto the roof of the Prime Minister's home in Kirby Sigston.
A large cordon was put in place and specialist police liaison officers were used to bring the protesters down from the roof of the property shortly before 1pm.
Four people, two men and two women, have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage and public nuisance. They currently remain in police custody.

I saw this first thing , so went to check the MSM to see what's NEW .
Zilch! ( OK there might be something in the regional press, but normally that gets highlighted after my usual search)
Saw a mate at the pool . He needed a chit from his GP because he's going on a subaqua course . Masks are back in the surgery,
Doc -- " I'm seeing a lot of covid"
Also saw my nice pneumologist - " We do PCR tests for all admissions and vary our masques depending on the cases/interventions "
Back from pool I see that a hospital in the Basque Country has reintroduced masks , and in LA --

And contrary to what quite a lot of reporting has implied, it is not Sunak's main residence.gilsey wrote: ↑Fri 04 Aug, 2023 2:31 pm From yesterday's police statement.

Most of the comments I've seen have been on the lines of
Rishi, Greenpeace protesters are on the roof of your house
Sunak: Which one?
Perhaps some assume that if you're paying £500k for a pool house, you must be planning to spend a lot of time there.
It isn't a mansion, as the press like to call it, more what the estate agents call a 'gentleman's residence', they might have bought something bigger* if they were going to be there much.
* bigger and possibly more secure/private
