In the 6.50am slot the Today programme interviewed Vijay Rangarajan, chief executive of the Electoral Commission, to ask him about the impact of the photo ID requirement for voters and he claimed that the new rule did not create “any major problems”.

'An awful lot of people had brought it'.
Anybody else think the Electoral Commission should be putting the bar a bit higher than this?

He doesn't seem to have anything but anecdotal evidence and he doesn't seem to care very much.

I listened too and was waiting for him to announce some research into voter absences because of lack of ID .... and answer came there none.

A quick early look at Xitter gave me a Feargal Sharkey saying ofwat et al might as well finish the day, leave their offices, and put the keys under the bloody door. Same goes for the Electoral Commission and myriad others . Couldn't find , but there's this --

Ben Houchen (who never wore a Tory rosette at his declaration) at least had the grace to look embarrassed when Sunak claimed his win as personal vindication.

Our equivalent (I think ?? ) of the CPS is the investigating magistrate, and on financial biz some are specialists ...

Examining magistrate
https://en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Examining_magistrate
Investigating judges in France have an important role in the French judiciary. They are also a feature of the Spanish, Dutch, Belgian and Greek criminal justice ...

Enough dirt has been thrown on Houchen, let alone the Fast Track PPE Billions, to have the Frog 'pôle financiére' of specialist magistrates wetting themselves in anticipation .... :-)

I was just wondering RE the above AK on 'embarrassment' how Houchen would be on a dawn raid from the Police Judiciaire ordered by an investigating mag ...

If you check Xitter profiles, as I VER Y often do, you will see that Stanislav Aseyev is up there along with so many other well-known Ukrainian cultural figures , many of whom have already been killed on the front line .

IF I were Ukrainian I'd be between Outraged and Sad that so much energy has been used on Gaza , compared to Ukraine .................
