Oh God I have to stop swearing!!!!

There was a bit of vox pop from Dudley on WatO today, and apparently the good burghers of Dudley also identified the NHS as the main issue at this election. Which, I presume will lead D "F" Hodges to pen an article which concludes and explains the exact opposite and intone funereally that this, like everything else, is bad news, etc, etc.

Nice. I've embedded it so it's easy for everybody to watch:

That's very good, and quite subtle in its own way. Very nice to see the 'choice of values' line - that'll resonate, I think. Is Martin Freeman a lefty then? News to me.
Both he and Tennant are avowed socialists and long time supporters of the Labour Party. It shouldn't matter, obviously, but two actors of their stature throwing their weight behind Labour will sway some, certainly add a little glamour to the image.

Doesn't that give the Greens more than they've been showing in other recent polls ?
Was just thinking at the weekend that the Green surge seemed to have fallen flat.

Lord Ashcroft poll. 2% behind, I'll take that, given his usual figures. His spin always raises a smile. This weeks favourite nugget :-

' Labour’s poster warning of future Conservative austerity, which declares “Next time they’ll cut to the bone – the NHS can’t afford the Tory cuts plan”, was best received by those already leaning towards Labour, or at least away from the Conservatives. '

So that'd be approximately 2/3 of the population. But move along, nothing to see

Well, I knew about Tennant, but not Freeman - thanks for that. Ashcroft's figures are presumably "100% certain to vote" as usual - this normally benefits the Tories.

This election will be as much about turnout as anything.

Not meaning to offend, but it would have been enough for me without the Scottish voice at the end.

But that's no ordinary Scottish voice OhSo, that's David Tennant, a much loved Dr Who.
It may attract a few more votes for Labour from younger voters.

I recently commented on a Grand Designs broadcast where I expressed derision for no mention of the spontaneous reaction of the local community. I suppose I should clarify that I dtdn't intend to cast aspersions. I neither know the couple concerned nor whether or not the programme makers knew of any such contribution. Just saying because there are plenty of posts where I do expect some reading between the lines. There are others where I have no such qualms but then I'm not known for my tact.

Look no typos, but then I'm using On Screen Keyboard before watching Coalition as recommended by LadyCentauria. Now where is my wireless keyboard and what did I say about displacement activities?
I would close my eyes if I couldn't dream.

That's the wierd thing. Labour's definitely will vote % is higher than Conservatives (68 to 62). Shy Tories? Usually trotted out. If this is the case I do wonder why there's no equivalent shy Scottish Labour voters. Hmm.

Well Martin Freeman appeared in the first episode of Black Books which starred Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey both of whom (along with Freeman) have appeared in various Edgar Wright films alongside Simon Pegg. I only mention this because I went to the same school as Edgar Wright. He would have been a couple of years below me so I don't remember him unfortunately, but it was a just a regular comprehensive which just shows you don't have to attend a posh school to do well (it just helps).

Just sometimes I enjoy the Daily Mail
Nick Clegg's election campaign went from the sublime to the ridiculous today, as he travelled from a meeting with the Queen to a hedgehog sanctuary in Solihull.
The Lib Dem leader was introduced to Humpty, a hedgehog with a head injury which means he keeps walking round in circles.
Mr Clegg was told the animals have a lifespan of just five years, which he might be able to relate to as his party face the prospect of being booted out of government for the first time since 2010.

That's funny, I almost posted the same comment this morning. We know that polling companies have weighted their polls to take account of 'Shy Tories' since Thatcher but is it still relevant? Can any of us say we've met a shy Tory lately? If the last 5 years have done anything it's shown that the right-wing are certainly not shy anymore.

But as you say, what about the shy Labour voter? Labour have been blamed for everything, some of it deserved and some of it total made-up cobblers, and they've been lambasted continuously by the media and by left and right-wing parties for more than 5 years for it. Isn't it probable that the same effect now exists for Labour but that the polling companies don't correct for it in their calculations because there hasn't been a GE to prove it exists?

Perhaps it's just grasping at straws but I think that the polling companies are working on methodologies which include certain things that are no longer relevant to the multi-party UK we appear to live in now. I think they know this but they don't have any baseline from which to properly adjust their calculations.

It looks like Osborne's "pension freedom" policy is getting off to a cracking start.

Information commissioner investigates alleged sales of pension pot data
Privacy watchdog to investigate report in Daily Mail that details of pensioners’ salaries, investments and size of their pensions are being sold for 5p
http://www.theguardian.com/money/2015/m ... n-pot-data" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
An investigation has been launched into claims millions of people’s pension pot details are being sold and ending up in the hands of criminals. Pensioners’ salaries, the value of their investments and the size of their pensions are being sold for as little as 5p without their consent, the Daily Mail reports. The financial details are allegedly being bought by fraudsters and cold-calling firms.

The paper reports that its undercover reporters were sold pension pot details for 15,000 people without any checks being made on who they were and what they wanted the data for.

Quoted because it's absolutely on the numbers. You don't have to be a nostalgic, reality-denying, darky/forner hating halfwit with the IQ of a grapefruit and all the social graces of a pissed up not right to vote UKIP, but it apparently is a trait.

The Kippers I've met have been - to a person - idiots. People whose horizons are so amazingly small that you wonder if they've ever seen a world atlas, let alone travelled. These are people who view - or seem to - the world through a prism made in the late 40s/early 50s; there's no subtlety, no shade of nuance, only fixity of function and absolute black and white answers to any and everything in their worlds. Kids playing up? Beat the kids. Got a speeding ticket? Abolish speed limits. Life not fair and you aren't the success you obviously deserve to be? Vote UKIP and all will be well.

I've just seen an advert for a daytime ITV programme to run daily at 12.30pm for an hour.
Daily studio debate show hosted by James O'Brien. A celebrity panel, experts and a studio audience discuss the major issues affecting people in the UK.
Apparently today was the first of 10 episodes.

That's begging for a UKIP Hobbiton parody Twitter account.

"UKIP Hobbiton supports every Hobbits' right to smoke pipe-weed and drink Barliman's Best, regardless of what those interfering Big Folk in Bree say!"

"these so called Rangers are simply gippoes - they'll be banned off the earth when we get in. Vote small, for those so minded."
"Everyone knows that only those strange Tooks and Baggins want to travel outside the Shire. We propose closing the border at the Brandywine."

"UKIP Hobbiton is the only party to ban those bad folks from Mordor from joining."

"UKIP Hobbiton strongly protest about the scenes of men sharing their 'feelings' with each other at the end of The Return of the King. Not in our Hobbiton!"

I don't think anyone's mentioned Alan Rickman yet. I'm pretty sure he's a Labour supporter. Oh, and I found this from Jan 2015 on Michael Eavis:
"I am a Labour Party member but I am disappointed with Blair and the war. Every day we have to pay the price for that. I think there will be an alliance between Labour and the SNP that will form the next government. I think Miliband is a good bloke – I know he doesn't come over very well but he has a good social conscience and he will do the right thing. With the help of the Scot Nats, I think they will win."

I don't know about anyone else, but I think that's a pretty decent endorsement for Ed and a real hint that putting himself up against his brother was worth it. I'm not sure David M would have been able to put the Iraq War behind the Labour party in the way Ed has. The MSM wouldn't have let him.

Please, please can someone confirm that this is, in fact, the case. If so I'll be investing in a bottle of Moet (well, probably Prosecco) this evening...
Is it this you mean? From February.

Even Clegg seems embarrassed to use party colours and admit he's a Lib Dem.

Just tried to find the post on Twitter, but can't find it. In short a kipper PPC called for Obaman to be kidnapped by the Israelies just as they did Eichman.
