Sorry Sputnikkers, are you including Greens among that group or am I being misled by your reference to Caroline? Only it's not a description I would recognise as being applicable to my Green colleagues.
As I don't want to offend I will try to indicate a little of my own history to explain some of the lead up to my first reaction back in 2001 and developments before/afterwards.

I was a member, as independent trader/broker, of the World Trade Centre London (on Tower Bridge) at the time of the first bombing in New York. I only visited this building once after that (I was only interested in electronic info at the time and was constructing my own separate BBS information service) but it was clear it wouldn't continue and closed shortly afterwards. But this did heighten my awareness around such events (together with some of my involvement/insights broking various deals in international trade and finance) - including later knowledge about the 'Iraqi' bomb maker and of his whereabouts in Iraq and dealings to try to bring him to justice. I also followed and read extensively developments in Iraq concerning the sanctions and lead up to our bombings of Iraq (Desert Fox?) in 1998.

By this time, my previous brief experience in quantum/radiation physics (mainly via 'Health Physics') at Oak Ridge Tennessee coalesced with my international brokerage becoming aware of the osmium and 'red mercury' 'fax jockeys'/flakes/scammers looking for suppliers. I knew a metals trader who actually had a small amount (three small phials I think) but thought that if there was anything 'genuine' behind this it was probably just a probe to find intermediaries as people willing (and able) to carry out trades in murky areas, particularly the nuclear field? I was obviously more aware and did occasionally look at the state of play with sanctions and WMDs in Iraq but mainly on the side of nuclear and radiological weapons because of personal interests. I had also had the odd approach to trade in arms - turned down without discussion - and was vaguely but constantly aware of the large amount of potential trade in attack helicopters etc.. In the early part of the decade leading up to and around the first Gulf War I was also indirectly involved in attempted trades in the Middle East which did involve negotiations with terrorist organisations. A friend who was more directly involved in some of these to 'save' Western lives was later killed - though I don't know how or why as I didn't think it appropriate to ask his mother and our knowledge of our respective languages inadequate to avoid misunderstandings for anything but to offer condolences. Various other stuff ... etc. etc..

The point is that I was quite sensitive, feeling an illogical but 'personal' involvement, to the events of September 11th and when Stop the War was formed just a couple of weeks or so later (I think?) I wondered who the hell these people were to react so quickly to and opportunistically jumped on what remains the biggest terrorist attack, by numbers, on British citizens going about their daily business. I didn't really recognise many of the names at the time but did register the fact of involvement (and was astonished by the naming) of various 'hard left' so-called socialist, leftist, (self-styled, self-proclaimed Marxist, Trots, Leninist) and communist factions all (as I learned later) jockeying for important positions in this new coalition.

I'm sorry but I don't know if 'The Greens' or Party individuals were involved at this early stage - perhaps you can enlighten me - only sketchily about Caroline Lucas becoming part of the 'leadership' - with no timeline. I would have thought they/she, understandably, became involved later on together with other 'genuine' peaceniks in the build up to the Iraq War but I could be wrong. If they were involved in that initial reaction I'm afraid I would probably include them in my initial condemnation - at least by association with some unsavoury exploitative characters. Sorry if my earlier elided post caused any unnecessary offense.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but since when has the government led by May been elected? https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/201 ... l-be-built

Particularly:
The Guardian understands that there would have been no review under the former government, led by David Cameron and with Amber Rudd as energy secretary, as a decision had already been made to sign off the project. Sources stressed that this response had come from the new prime minister, Theresa May, and her new ministerial team.

Hello .....
Probably as safe as yesterday...world will end when it wants. I doubt a tin hat will help, unless you have a really nice head of hair. I`m more concerned about that dragon thing that`s going to burn us all for the brexit vote..:)
have a nice one....
