FWIW Often misportrayed as religious(of course it can be if so wished) I find the following incredibly useful. Deceptively simple,you have to work at it IMHO.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change

Reading that now I remember my frame of mind.
I was frightened. My head wasn't working and I was too fucked to remember why.
But these are the risks you take when you go for a night out with my mate alchie Jonny.
He's a scriptwriter. Writes for the Emmerdale. And drinks a litre and a half of vodka a day.
