Atos invitation.

Post by Sky'sGoneOut »

I got my letter today, in three weeks time I have to face some loathsome fuck in the shape of a nurse who has taken the Devils shilling.

Last time I wasn't quite so prepared.

This time things are going to be different.

Good. Although I'd hate to be in her shoes

If you have a written report from your GP or any specialist you see, take a copy with you - not the original, they will "lose" it - and insist it is put in your file. When you fail their criteria which you almost certainly will, go to CAB, they will help you with the Mandatory Reconsideration. All the best.

Anyone here could tell you I'm not fit to be in human company. The DWP however seem rather less keen to admit my malaise. I have my psychiatrist telling them that, I have my cognitive behavioural therapy 'team' telling them that, I have my doctor and my medication telling them that, I have myself demonstrating that.

But come friday it's all about tick boxes and the on the day opinion of some loathesome 'healthcare professional' who has taken the devil's shilling.

I fought them last year and lost only narrowly when it came to my appeal.

This time I have medical evidence to back up me being a bit of a twat.

Thanks though. I did try the CAB last time but they gave me a young lad, who despite his enthusiastic best efforts ended up being completely useless and a bit of a hindrance.

I hope it works out better for you this time. I would say give 'em hell, but that wouldn't be much help would it.

No! Never play that game.
You are on camera from the moment you arrive. The stress sends muggins into quivering wreck mode, so no faking here. But trying to act happy is not a good idea.
With MH issues it's also a good idea to start with asking what qualifications they have in MH.
Always take someone with you.

Sorry JAMP, didn't realise that you are watched pre-interview, how awful.

Farcical. Utterly farcical.

Excuse me if I go on a bit here.

So I got there on time and sat in the waiting room with 5 other people. One by one they were called up and told their documentation from the DWP hadn't shown up so their assessment would have to be re-scheduled. Until it got to me then nothing. So I sat there alone listening to the fuckwits on the front desk laughing and joking and imagining their horrible deaths until a 'nurse' called for me.

The first thing I noticed as I followed her along the corridor was she had thigh length black leather boots on and kept having to remind myself she was the enemy.

It became apparent immediately that they'd also lost my documentation. It seems we folks with problems up in the old noggin are allowed to be assessed without such trivialities as even the vaguest knowledge of who we are or what our condition may be.

So I sat there and I looked angry and I frowned and it all went ahead.

And despite me being her only customer I was in and out within 20 minutes.

Still it was Friday afternoon.

They just don't seem to take it seriously, do they!? I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have a better result than you're expecting. And, if you're interested – or if you can bear it – the CAB want to hear from people about their experiences with the ESA process for their campaign, "Fit for work," either via their blog, FB, or Twitter. @51A put up a post about it a couple of days ago. Don't feel you have to share your experience with CAB if you're not comfortable doing so, but you as a statistic (nameless if you want) are useful to the campaign. I'm a CAB volunteer, we are seeing truly awful things happening, ESA and PIP being denied when it clearly ought to be awarded. I don't know if you've used us but it it's what we're there for. We get a massive sense of satisfaction when we right a wrong. If you have any support worker CAB will usually offer a full appointment, bypassing the "Gateway" system if your support worker requests it, if not feel free to PM me and I will try to find out how your local Bureau works - we all work a bit differently and are differently funded depending on area but most work on a "Gateway Assessment" either by appointment or drop in followed by a full appointment with a specialist caseworker. I've seen several instances - almost all where our caseworkers are involved - where WCA has scored 0, on Appeal or at Tribunal full awards have been made on highest rates. All the best.

I've fucking done it.

Support group.

After two years of fucking about it would appear my efforts have borne benefit fruit.

And I'm going to be getting nearly a grand in backdated payments.

I'd celebrate with you lot if I knew how.

Good news. You can sleep now. And other things. I have a brother in a similar position, he'll get some chance of a life back when he gets his decision. Dreadful thing to put you through. I am glad it worked out.

And just to confirm I am now officially mad and am not to be messed about with by the DWP with any of their nonsense for a whole year.

Not something that is commonly celebrated but after two years fighting for it I confess a smattering of pride.

It feels like I'm on some weird holiday in my own life. I might actually remember how to relax.

"And just to confirm.that I am officially mad"

There was a guy who used to frequent a local hostelry some time back who had spent some time in an asylum,he kept a very worn out letter that be got on leaving and used to announce at regularly intervals "I'm the only one here that has a letter to say their sane"

Look after yourself.regards.
