CBT is bollocks.

I've just finished my third CBT experience.

My latest therapist was a lovely woman in her mid fifties who was quite obviously well trained in the field.

I could see every little cog ticking in her brain, not because she was stupid or slow, but because she'd been trained to be so predictable.

Frankly I could have talked to her for a week non stop and she wouldn't have been able to do me any good.

What people like me need is professional help, not a chat with a well meaning hippy.

Sky, I'm a well meaning hippy in my mid(ish fifties but I agree with you. Some people find CBT helpful but if it's not right for you (and you've given it your best efforts) then they should bloody well find you the sort of help that you do need!

What help do I need though?

You're as likely to know the answer to that as I am.

Because you're a well meaning hippy on your mid (ish) Fifties, and therefore awesome.

Thanks, Sky  You're pretty awesome, yourself. What help? Man, I wish I knew but at least we can add 'not CBT' to the list of tried-that-not-helpful. A doctor who will listen fully and properly to you (as you're the only 'expert' on yourself) would be a good start. One who will think carefully about the options, and who will then not only ask you if you'd be willing to try a different course of action/treatment but then, if you agree, quickly get you an appointment to see a specialist in that - and then follow up with you to see how that's going...

And I wish I could give you a box of hope!

I wish you could be cloned and your good nature hardwired into our species.
