Notice the cagoule. It spent the day being really sunny then pissing it down then sunny then pissing it down again.

Nobody calls them cagoules anymore. They're like outdoor sports coats or some shit like that.

Everybody is getting incredibly tall to me,only my mum is smaller,I am five foot 6 in heels,all my trousers get frayed because they are too long and I walk on them.Perhaps there is a sort of increased division between the tallees and the smallees and nobody being the average leading to the battle that ends civilisation,or maybe I am the non incredible shrinking man destined to end life as a fag end in an ashtray.It's good to be nuts in a good way,I find it either disarms people in not knowing what to say or enjoin in the insanity

Traversed the streets of Nottingham,they changed the route because of people complaining it was too flat though I suspect it was just sadism.Done it fifteen times and still get lost getting back to the bus station,I am sure they move it every year just to confuse me.Big heavy medals seem to be thing now,they used to do lace which was cool.

What impressed me most Hindle are those shorts.

Did you get them in about 1982?

Seriously though kudos on completing a marathon. I tried the Great North Run once and about halfway I decided to stop and check what the rather insistent pain in my big toe was and my bloody toenail was hanging off. Never tried a marathon since and shan't try another if bits of me are likely to come off painfully.

You may well of been in the same event as me,I did it for about a dozen times,camping at South Shields.When it became a ballot I stopped and gave others a chance.Four people died one year,so you got off lightly.As to the shorts,not far off 1985,I know this because they were bought for me in the first year I started doing them.I take the piss out of myself,but for someone who chains smokes,doesn't train I was quite good at them -1 hr 30ish for half,3.30 ish full,I say ish because there was non of this individual chip timing,your time was from when it started,I always start towards the back,now it is a case of not dying.I am extremely fortunate,apart from the expected coughing fit,ever earlier,I don't get as much as a blister(I'll probably disintegrate on the next one,now I have said that)

Near the end of the race,it was a proper site.I just got there the night before usually in pitch dark set it up,slept,dismantled it,in morning ,lugged it via bus to the race start put in baggage bus and lugged it back home afterwards.It was about a fiver to stay.

I remember running for the county in a cross country race when I was about 14 in South Shields and there were kids in the bushes with sticks whipping our legs as we ran past.

Fucking little shits.

Since then I lived in Newcastle for 8 years and can with some confidence say I got off lightly.

Vest is from Boston,I still have" original" one.Trainers are a different matter,they last about 6/7 years and bottoms gets eroded,I have a strange gait-one side goes down far quicker than the other,until the angle gets ridiculous/fall apart.
