Hey, I always thought the SNP were true progressives, socialists, that dying band who these days can only be found north of Carlisle?

If that is the case then, why is student debt increasing faster amongst those from poorer backgrounds? Would it be because the SNP have cut their grants by 40%? Confused, I was led to believe they believed in an egalitarian state?

Interesting tactic / poll results (but wouldn't like to imagine their polling sample and methodology...) - but this should really be taken as just the Countryside Alliance again rattling the cage of the Tories pre election to make sure they get their repeal of the hunting ban included in manifestos .... We can expect lots of this stuff over the next 6 months. I worry for our environment and wildlife if these current sh*ts get elected again.Rural voters feel alienated by coalition Government - poll
http://www.westernmorningnews.co.uk/Rur ... story.html
... A survey commissioned by the Countryside Alliance found that 86% of rural voters feel they have been alienated by the Tories and Lib Dems in power.
Polling carried out by Opinion Research Business also revealed that no political party has convincingly secured the rural vote.
Some 22% of those polled in the countryside voters said they would vote for the Tories, 20% for Labour and 17% for UKIP. The Lib Dems would get just 5% of the share...
When asked what the Tories must do to win the countryside vote next year, transport (15%) led the list of concerns in the poll, followed by immigration (14%) and an EU referendum (10%).
Sir Barney White-Spunner, executive chairman of the Countryside Alliance, said in August that rural voters “want and expect” a pledge to repeal the hunting ban to be included in the Tories’ pitch to voters.

Sir Barney White-Spunner can kiss my fat sweaty arse. All polls show people dislike fox hunting, and if they think that any party (barring the headbangers in UKIP) would include it, I suspect he's deluded. It's history adn should remain so. It's shaneful he could see it through any other prism.rebeccariots2 wrote:Interesting tactic / poll results (but wouldn't like to imagine their polling sample and methodology...) - but this should really be taken as just the Countryside Alliance again rattling the cage of the Tories pre election to make sure they get their repeal of the hunting ban included in manifestos .... - I say Cleggy old chap, bit of a bother with this referendum bill rubbish. Utterly pointless shambles, but I can't just kill it off. Do you mind if I make a song and dance about it and blame you for sinking it.
Calamity Clegg.
- look Dave my friend, no can do; what's in it for me?
Empty Dave.
- Hmmm, tricky. Could you perhaps blame us for something in return?
Calamity Clegg
- Excellent idea old chum. How about I claim you refused to reform the bedroom tax as part of the deal. That way you look anti-Europe and mean and I look kind hearted and concerned. Plus we carry on screwing the poor and the Euro nutters.
- Empty Dave.
- Cleggy my boy that is genius. Excellent call, now how about we hop over to the club for a bite to eat and some Pimms. Later on maybe we could take turns playing blind mans bluff with IDS.

"Can Labour’s Lee Sherriff become Cumbria’s first female MP?
She’s a single mother with four jobs and scant experience in politics. So why did Sherriff decide to stand for parliament? And can her strategy of ‘being one of the people’ win over electors in Carlisle?"
Do I detect a little sneeriness in this article? or is it just me?

I'm confused. Are these the same 'troubled' families that we were told had been 'turned around' not long ago?Government ‘is starting to help 120,000 troubled families’

Which is it then - starting to help - or - turned around? They don't say the same to me at all.
I'd better read the article now.
