Theresa May urged to disclose contents of blind trust
Arrangement allows for investments to be retained at arm’s length, which critics say has potential for conflict of interest

Theresa May is facing questions about her financial interests after it emerged she set up a blind trust arrangement when she became prime minister.

Her use of a blind trust, disclosed in a recent Cabinet Office list of ministerial interests, allows her to hold on to shareholdings or other investments without disclosing what they are to the public.

It means she will have handed over control over shareholdings or other investments to a third party, who will look after the financial interests during her time in power.

The UK was a much more compassionate country two decades ago than it is now, with the tone of public conversation “dragged horribly to the right” by divisive figures such as Nigel Farage, the writer of a new BBC drama inspired by PJ Harvey’s Kosovan notebooks has said.
Thanks for this, I caught it half way in today and was struggling to work out what it was about.

That parents and teachers for Education - they're really interested in standards and not at all in structures...not one bit...oh hang on...

It's time for the Government refocus its efforts on the free schools movement

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/20 ... ion-teach/
That is not to downplay the importance of the reforms of the last parliament, that saw so many more schools freed from the deadening bureaucracy and new, innovative schools created through the passion of teachers and local parents. I remain a huge supporter of free schools and the expansion of the academy programme.
Ah yes, the obligatory dig at local authorities. I didn't get an answer when I emquired as to why 80& of primaries feel happy to remain with the "deadening bureaucracy". Shocked etc.
Not every head teacher agrees with me about free schools and academies. Some heads of outstanding local authority schools believe them to be irrelevant. But I know that many of the best schools in the country would not, could not, have existed without recent reforms: including my own, but also those of Harris and Ark, or Reach in Feltham and Michaela in Brent.
Can't possible prove that.
Our education system is often derided for being centralised and for the overwhelming political power of the secretary of state – despite the power that now resides with individual schools.
If you're a converter I might agree but even then you still have an RSC looikng large. But a school within a MAT - you have no power unless the MAT deigns to give it you.

A long article which says very little about what they actually want. More knowledge? Is that it?
