Farne Islands and Wild Welsh camping.
Me being attacked by an Arctic Tern. They were justifiably pissed off as loads of tourists were wandering around their nesting sites.

Ok, it's obvious I'm going to have to shrink these all down to a smaller resolution and I'm tired and mildly drunk and covered in midge bites at the moment so can't be arsed to do it right now.
Never camp near any water in Wales in the summer, you'll be entering a midge nightmare. And when I say nightmare I mean having hundreds of them landing on any exposed area including your eyes, in your ears and up your nose.

Nay nay and thrice nay.
If I can't get it to work properly on this old beast of a PC that means it's not working properly.
I shall endeavour to sort it out once I've recovered from my various aches, pains and insect bites.
Let's try some crappy phone camera pics...

Literally stumbled on this 'little' fellah waiting for his wings to fully expand before he took flight. There was a Mum with her kids and a cocker Spaniel running about nearby so we had to kill them all to make sure our friend above got a chance to do his thing. Well that was my idea but my brother used his science teacher skills to remedy the situation without recourse to needless slaying.
(The female of the Golden Ringed Dragonfly is bigger, they're the biggest Dragonflies in the country apparently).

Hmmm...I see, there appears to be a little bar at the bottom of the screen you can slide back and forth in order to see big stuff that goes off the side of the screen.
I'd probably have noticed this previously had I not spent the last 3 nights 'sleeping' on a 'self inflating' camping mat that cost me quite a lot of money but was about as comfortable as lying on something not very comfortable. It inflated about half an inch on its own then you had to blow into the valve to get it to get it the other majestic half an inch. That's like buying a pre-cooked chicken and having to put it in the oven for half an hour. And then when you come to eat it it's actually horrible and tastes like shit.
Bah. Grumble.

Who could that be lurking around in a Welsh forest?

I have a two man tent, the last time I used it for the GNRun,I put it up in the pitch dark, strong and stable it fell on top of me,so I kind of wrapped it around me for extra comfort.

Re: Farne Islands and Wild Welsh camping.
Mine's the one with the glowing guy ropes. It's actually really good. Easy to put up and keeps the bugs out as long as its idiot owner remembers to keep it shut.
The weird thing is once you're in there wrapped up in your sleeping bag cocooned off from the rest of the world it's difficult to persuade yourself that you're in a forest or next to a lake or wherever at night because it's mostly quiet. Until the dawn chorus you're in a state of mild sensory deprivation until it all kicks off.
And then next thing you know it's half five in the morning and you're being shouted at by various species of our avian friends.
I can't recommend it enough.

Went in search of Puffins near Aberdeen recently.
But only saw something that appeared to be a flying penguin.

Thanks for the photos - the puffin one was simply showing off.
Razobill - that was the one. Flying penguin and no mistake.
I hadn't encountered these beasts previously and was quite thrown by first contact.
Most odd.
