Re: Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th August 2017
I saw the headline and, until I got round to reading the article, thought that it was a money-spinner to charge people, who wanted to leave, £9,000. A sort of ransom\hostage scenario. Which would, the way things are going, make a bit more sense . . .Ukip politicians condemn leadership candidate's '£9,000 to leave UK' idea (Guardian)

I wondered where you were! I'm afraid I didn't realise that you'd started this thread, so I inadvertently set up a rival one. Which everyone is studiously ignoring . . .
Re: Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th August 2017
Actually, I now notice that I got in first. So you're the pretender. I'm not hurt at all . . .

Here's my effort. I transplanted it (perhaps someone (refitman?) would be kind enough to delete the other thread)? Thanks, in advance.

Brexit/Big Ben repairs both neatly sum up British politics. Non-experts loudly exclaiming, "it'll take *how* long? It can't be *that* hard".

See also anything to do with railways, where everybody is an expert because they've been on a train. Just have double decker trains etc.
Talking of which, Network Rail seem to be doing well with the Waterloo works. Half of platforms have had to be taken out of use for them, so very little margin for error.

Ha ha.
I just wondered what Emma Boon is doing these days. She's at the DfT as a special advisor. Her linkedin page says she worked at a "high profile think tank". Too ashamed to say which one.

I think you have to allow that low expectations was a rational position, at least until May was exposed properly. (I'm not belittling Corbyn there, he did a good job exposing May).
