Re: Monday 8th January 2018
If you read some of the pieces around the time of his appointment, before it occurred to people that he might have a bit of a past, it was suggested that whilst the Office for Students is supposed to be there to protect the interests of students in HE, it also had a role in 'protecting free speech on campus' - he still seems an ideal candidate if what the government is after is somebody to make sure that the fees students pay to be there are used to fund speakers who will attack their right to be there because of who they are. It's a bit like the problem with the Worboys case being that the probation board were doing their job, not that they weren't.SpinningHugo wrote:A good take on Toby Young, who should never have been appointed

Apart from the picture of a naked Toby, Zelo Street (Saturday) was good.

I'm most disappointed.
I thought Chris Grayling was the ideal candidate to fail to get the Tories re-elected. Knew it was too good to be true.

edited to make it clear it's AS speaking, not me.We’ve got two urgent questions in the Commons this afternoon.
But we don’t know if Jeremy Hunt or Justine Greening will still be in post this afternoon. Both UQs may well be answered by junior ministers ...Labour Whips

Two UQs granted from 3.30. 1. @JonAshworth to ask @Jeremy_Hunt to make a statement on the NHS Winter Crisis. 2. @DawnButlerBrent to ask @JustineGreening about the appointment of Toby Young to the OfS.
