Q13. Waiting times for personal independence payment tribunals in Wales have quadrupled over the past four years. My constituent, Alan McKittrick, is suffering from prostate cancer, angina, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, arthritis, hernias, mental ill health, dizziness, blackouts and ulcers, yet his initial PIP claim was refused. He then waited 56 weeks for an appeal, which he won. Will the Prime Minister apologise to Alan, and when will she end this hostile environment towards sick and disabled people? [905242]

The Prime Minister
Obviously, Members across this House raise issues about the PIP process, and the Department for Work and Pensions is consistently looking at the whole PIP process. One of the issues that the hon. Gentleman raised in his question was the health of the individual concerned. As he sits for a Welsh constituency, I would have thought that, if he wants to talk about health, he should talk to the Labour Government in Wales."

Saw quite a few swallows in a small bird sanctuary near Newtown (which was new in the 19th century, has an unfortunate name and is a nice place) about three weeks ago now, and also saw a pied flycatcher (which I have just failed to upload a picture of, pretty little black and white thing).

No answers for PaulfromYorkshire from Andrew Leadsom, it seems:

Leadsom refuses to deny reports key Brexit bill being delayed until autumn to avoid Commons defeat
In business questions Valerie Vaz, the shadow leader of the Commons, asked when the EU withdrawal bill would come back to the Commons. And she asked about reports that the government is planning to delay bringing back the trade bill and the customs bill until the autumn because ministers are worried about losing votes on the customs union.

She did not get much in the way of answers. Andrea Leadsom, the Commons leader, said the EU withdrawal bill would be coming back to the Commons, but she did not say when. And she claimed that there was “no hold up” with other legislation like the trade bill or the customs bill. But she would not confirm that those bills would come back to the Commons for their report stage debates before the summer recess (which is what everyone was expecting until recently). She went on:

There are very complex negotiations underway and it’s right that we bring forward these bills at the appropriate time, as indeed we will do.

After 8 years every govt dept seems to have descended into incompetence and/or sociopathy.

Hated Thatcher's govts but I remember them as being reasonably competent at what they were trying to do, leaving aside macroeconomics at which they were truly terrible.

Senior Brexiteer Dan Hannan admits leaving EU is not quite going to plan

https://www.standard.co.uk/news/politic ... 35561.html
Dan Hannan, the Conservative MEP whose speeches against Brussels went viral on YouTube, said Britain should seek an “Efta-type arrangement, à la Suisse” to protect trade with the EU.

He expressed surprise that an uncompromising Brexit was being pursued despite the closeness of the 52-48 referendum result which backed Leave.

Mr Hannan, writing on ConservativeHome, said he was often asked, “not working out the way you thought, is it?” He said: “To be fair, they’ve got a point.” He went on: “I had assumed that, by now, we’d have reached a broad national consensus around a moderate form of withdrawal that recognised the narrowness of the result.”
The idea that Hannan had any idea about thing might work post-Brexit is pretty far-fetched.
