@AlanDuncanMP
For Boris to say that the PM’s view is like that of a suicide bomber is too much. This marks one of the most disgusting moments in modern British politics. I’m sorry, but this is the political end of Boris Johnson. If it isn’t now, I will make sure it is later.

...Javid told BBC1’s The Andrew Marr Show: “I’m glad the police and other experts are looking into this, and thinking what might happen in a no-deal scenario. I don’t expect a no-deal outcome, but we need to prepare for all contingencies, and it’s absolutely correct. And that’s what we’ve been doing across government, including my own department, so of course that means working closely with police. I’m not going to get into what the situation may or may not be, but I think it’s fair to say we’re preparing for all contingencies.”

The language Javid uses shows how disconnected he considers police and other experts from government while freely admitting secrecy preparing for who knows what.

In any governmental "reign",regardless of party(ies) there will be some things I agree with but even with as an example the extension (pun) of reduction of CT on the basis of disability for annexes whilst at the same time making existing rooms used specifically for care chargeable subject to discretion for others somewhat revealed that they were completely aware and political machination cynically deployed.

@MitchBenn
Mitch Benn Retweeted Alvinfisher#Standup4Brexit.

The trouble with “Brexit Means Brexit” is that “Brexit” is a neologism; the word has only existed for about three years and for that whole time there’s been no consensus on what it actually DOES mean.

Might as well say “Arglefoob means Arglefoob”.

British army 'explicitly targeting' working-class recruits, say critics

Recruitment drive focuses on teenagers seeking adrenaline, says Child Soldiers International (Guardian)
Always have done, really, so far as I can remember. The one on TV for the Royal Navy seems to target the lonely. It's all a bit underhand and exploitative, it seems to me.

A no-deal Brexit would mean the estimated £39bn final payment to Brussels would instead be largely used for the NHS, the document argues. Another “Brexit bonus” would come from cuts to income and capital gains tax, business rates and stamp duty.
I'm not quite clear how tax cuts are anything to do with Brexit and certainly don't see how they are a "bonus".

HMRC says secret deals are done to avoid denting the reputations of the powerful, sparking fears for equality under the law
Important one !
“” HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has admitted for the first time that it allows the most powerful members of society to escape prosecution for financial crimes.

At an economic crime conference in Cambridge last week, a senior government official admitted that the tax authorities accommodated celebrities’ concerns and settled debts privately to avoid the embarrassment of a public trial.

HMRC, however, continues to prosecute smugglers, small businesses and benefits cheats.

Richard Las, the deputy director of HMRC in charge of organised crime, said that “very wealthy and prominent members of the community” were afraid of the “reputational damage” that a criminal trial for fraud, money-laundering or tax evasion would bring.

He admitted that “criminal justice” was never a “default option” for HMRC. “We use it… ""PAYWALL!
---------------------------------------------------------------
The funny crazy barking mad bit is that when first approached, HMRC denied it , saying

We’re not a banana Republic, you know .”

Oh yes you are, but without the sunshine !

PS The other sexy bit is that they did not prosecute someone because he was a MAJOR donor to the Tories .

WTF ?

Found it !

“” In 2016 the panama papers, revealing the ways in which the rich were able to exploit secretive offshore tax regimes, led to four arrests and six interviews under caution by HMRC.

Earlier this year, it also emerged that HMRC had refused to assist a French organisation into suspected money-laundering and tax fraud by the UK telecoms giant Lycamobile because the company was one of the biggest corporate donor’s of the Conservative Party.

In the past online business giants such as Amazon, Google, Apple and Facebook have also come under scrutiny after it was revealed they funnelled their European sales through countries including Ireland and Luxembourg where they were offered lower corporation tax rates. “”
