Interesting conversation with 'er indoors after she went for a meeting yesterday about the CQC inspection they've had and are currently in the middle of reacting to.
Every member of staff has to be told and sign they understand the fire safety rules. No issue with that you might think but they have to do this every day. Every. Single. Day.
Every hour they have to check with every woman they have in the birth centre that they know who their allocated midwife is. And they have to check the visitors book to check who's in there. Every. Single. Hour.
I signed off our school's heath, safety and welfare policy which all staff have to read and sign to say they've read it. But they do this once a year. They do a fire drill one a term.
Our school has around 670 pupils.
My wife's unit has 10 rooms....
I'm all for safety standards but the CQC seem to going a little OTT here.

I'm sure the CQC uncover things that do need sorting out but like happened to Ofsted, there needs to be a push back against some of their rules.

Re: Tuesday 13th November 2018
The last thing I've seen about Florida is that whilst it does seem there is a significant 'undervote' in one county for the Senate race that might be because the design of the ballot paper 'hid' the senate election at the bottom of the 'general advice' column. It seems a bit strange that one of the two main headline races in the state could so easily be missed by so many people, but if that's what happened then the undervote in Broward isn't because it hasn't been counted but because it was a genuine undervote.AnatolyKasparov wrote:Kyrsten Sinema officially won Arizona's vacant Senate seat this morning - at worst it will be 53-47 now.

Labour confirms Brexit legal advice motion will be pushed to a vote. Tories abstaining so it will pass.
The motion's wording could mean disclosure of wide-range of docs, but Labour source confirms the party will not push for publication of anything other than final legal advice.

UK and EU negotiators have agreed a Brexit deal:
•UK-wide "backstop" if they fail to negotiate a trade deal without border checks on Ireland
•UK-wide customs union with the EU
•No fixed end-date but "review clause"
So, it seems the backstop is Labour's Brexit policy.
