People buying fridge freezers have greater consumer rights than private renters, Labour’s shadow housing secretary John Healey has said as he promises more rights for renters.

He must have missed the changes the Tories made in 2015 to the consumer rights act ;)

Is this the Tories' new hospital parking policy? Sounds suspiciously like their current policy to me.

The Mirror's done a good job here putting together the worst bits (and the missing bits) from the Tory manifesto:

Good. Tim Fenton (Zelo Street) has been quite informative on this if anyone needs to catch up.

I note that Politics Live (Guardian) is giving as much (if not, more) coverage to Tony Blair than to the Conservative Manifesto.

A Conservative candidate has been caught getting one of his friends to pose as a fake swing voter, raising further questions about the party's use of disinformation and "fake news".
Lee Anderson, who is standing for the Tories in Ashfield in Nottinghamshire, forgot he was wearing a live microphone while he phoned his friend to set up the fake encounter to impress a journalist
"Don't make out that you don't know who I am... you know I'm the candidate, but not a friend, alright?" Mr Anderson was recorded saying as he spelled out instructions to his friend minutes before bringing a journalist to his door.
The candidate also appeared to lie about the content of the phone call, commenting to the reporter as he hung up that it was about "some leaflets that have just come for me".
The Independent, today. Classy. I'm sure, if they comment on it at all, the tory party nationally will just talk about what happens in the rough and tumble of an election campaign, and it's all good fun.

A BBC spokeswoman told the Mirror: This clip from the BBC’s Question Time special, which was played in full on the News at Ten on Friday evening and on other outlets, was shortened for timing reasons on Saturday’s lunchtime bulletin, to edit out a repetitious phrase from Boris Johnson.

"However, in doing so we also edited out laughter from the audience.

"Although there was absolutely no intention to mislead, we accept this was a mistake on our part, as it didn’t reflect the full reaction to Boris Johnson’s answer.

"We did not alter the soundtrack or image in any way apart from this edit, contrary to some claims on social media.”
Of course not.

I was thinking about this because of the BBC's cenotaph editing.

In the cenotaph footage they must have...

1. Edited (appropriately and 'normally') the new original footage
2. Searched for and retrieved the historic footage
3. Searched through the historic footage and selected a relevant extract
4. Edited the historic footage to export a usable copy of just the relevant extract
5. Selected the relevant extract of the 'new' original footage and removed it from the 'new' edit.
6. Dropped the historic footage they had just especially prepared into the edit of the 'new' original footage,

and then

7. Claimed, on being called out on it, that it was an accident.

I think it's reasonable to dismiss any claims from the BBC that pro-Johnson editing is a mistake.

The editing and altered content creates doubts in minds causing scepticism of everything reported. Liars and the unscrupulous benefit from that, not people telling the truth.

The funniest bit about that was the voter saying that he'd go further and use the Cat o'nine tails - you can see Anderson thinking "Oh gawd, what did you say that for?"

On a personal note, some good news in the ROT household - my son was made permanent after a 6 month probation and given a promotion (and pay rise).

The first few years after uni were hard going - one temporary job after another. I think I remember recounting the story about him working for Tesco on the phones and being told he was being let go that day after he asked what shifts he was doing the following week as none showed up on the schedule.

So, it's nice that he's finally getting somewhere - he's chuffed and we're relieved...

I think an ABSOLUTE PRIORITY for the next Government must be to root out leftist culture from our schools, universities, civil service, state-run services and Media (esp BBC).

If we don’t change the mindset soon we are all doomed.

Lance Forman MEP - who's a lovely chap.
Business career

He worked at Price Waterhouse Coopers before being employed as a Special Adviser, 1991–92, to Peter Lilley, Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.[3][8]

Forman runs H. Forman & Son, a smoked salmon business in Fish Island, London.[9] He is the fourth-generation owner of the company.[10] According to a report by The Observer, Forman also previously specialised in the privatisation of enterprises in former eastern European Soviet states and held real estate in Ukraine. Forman told The Observer that he acted "as a consultant" in this regard.[11]
MEP

Forman was elected as an MEP for the London constituency in 2019.

Forman is considered to be the most prolific Twitter user of all MEPs, having the highest total number of tweets.[12] A number of Forman's tweets have gone viral and been considered controversial, such as claims that Jeremy Corbyn is a nazi, that Islamophobia in the Tory party is "made up by the left",[13] that the "British taxpayer has paid for a nice fleet" of Mercedes for MEPs in Brussels (while posting a picture of what was actually a Skoda)[14][15] as well as sharing a video of himself apparently unable to operate the voting machines at the EU parliament, which he claimed was evidence that there was "no democracy here".[16][17]

He is in favour of "reducing the size of the state" and removing "red tape" which he considers harmful to businesses.[18] He has claimed that EU packaging and hygiene regulations have cost his business hundreds of thousands of pounds annually, which is the principal reason he is in favor of Brexit.[19]

Forman is a climate change denier.[20] [21] (Wikipedia)
