Then there's Helen Whately and now Gillian Keegan. That noise is the bottom of the barrel being scraped.

I shouldn't think so. I doubt if he's doing it for his health. Or, more to the point, anyone else's health.

The system will still be centralised and divorced from local councils and public health teams, regardless of who's in charge. No doubt part of "operation moonshot", pay-for-test services from your local supermarket, which will no doubt be as successful as "operation last gasp".

Incidentally, I have now been drawn into the vortex of incompetence that is 21st century Tory Britain. My daughter has a persistent cough. Only tests available are 66 miles away in another country in a lockdown area I'm not even sure I'm supposed to travel to. No home tests available. Absolute joke.

Well, the system, after many refreshed pages, finally relented and gave me a covid test slot at the mobile testing unit 6 miles up the road for tomorrow. I'm not sure I filled the form in right, there didn't seem to be a way of indicating it was being filled in by someone else on behalf of a child. I've been finding government forms more and more bewildering of late and I'm not sure it's them or me! Wish me luck.

Yes I noticed that too, fit as a butcher's dog he said.

Any butcher with a dog that looks jowly, bloated and haggard with skin resembling cold tapioca pudding both in colour and texture should be reported immediately to the RSPCA.

BREAKING: Labour just voted to side with the EU once again.

By voting against the UK Internal Market Bill – which will guarantee seamless trade between the home nations of the UK - they've shown they won’t stand up to Brussels or protect the United Kingdom from the SNP.
Who writes this stuff? Protect the UK from the SNP?

Do we think there's anyone out there who takes this crap seriously?

Internal market bill passed by Commons despite Tory concerns

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/20 ... y-concerns
Lord Neuberger, former president of the supreme court, has condemned the bill as a “flagrant breach” of the UK’s international law obligations that would “muzzle” British courts.

He asked how the government, which is passing some “pretty draconian” laws through Covid-19 health regulations, could expect people to obey them if it is “seen to be breaking its obligations on the international law stage”.
Well quite.

Having read some of the comments under the BBC article about the passing of the bill it appears there's quite a few happy to lap that shit up and guzzle it down.

The irony of course being that through this very act of backsliding treachery the Tory Party have opened the door to the SNP holding an independence referendum whenever they like and if the Tories complain this can be waved back in their faces.

Loads of people took the SNP scare crap seriously in 2014-2015, though I do think that is something many are more wised up to now.

That seems quite liberal for Priti.

Why not just dump them in the Sargasso Sea to float around on seaweed and plastic rubbish?

Or throw them overboard in the Bermuda Triangle and let the alien, time travelling sea monsters deal with them?

Both would certainly be a lot cheaper than wasting a huge amount of public money on a stunt that would have seen her own parents locked up on a volcano.

Tory council leader condemns PM's 'unacceptable' Covid restrictions

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... strictions" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
David Greenhalgh, the council leader in Bolton, one of the UK’s worst-hit areas, said government handling of the measures was “breeding resentment” among “red wall” voters who switched to the Conservatives in December’s general election.

“It’s become too complex, too complicated. The amount of resentment that’s built up now because of the unfairness. People feel very let down, they feel frustrated, there’s a lot of anger,” he told the Guardian.

“At the moment we just feel very forgotten and, I’ll be honest, the fact that I’m a Conservative leader and I’m appealing to my own government – it’s not a great position to be in.”
Yeah well, hopefully they won't make the same mistake again of thinking that Tories will ever look after them.

In other news 'er indoors went to see the consultant today and got a good report - they took out everything that was nasty and most of the dressings are off.

I was going with her - not because I could go in with her as this is still not allowed - but I was going to have a wander round Whitechapel to take some pics. Sadly the weather meant that wrestling with a camera while holding an umbrella didn't appeal...

I was about to ask what Bolton's excuse was for having such a high rate of infection when it obviously doesn't have a university but it turns out it does have one and now I feel like a massive snob.

The question does remain however, why is this not happening in the South?

From Reading across London to Canterbury then Portsmouth and Southampton on the coast we're not seeing the same kind of student led outbreaks that Scotland and the North of England are facing.

Is it merely a question of time or is there something else going on?
