7 weeks to the end of the transition period.Robert Jenrick, the communities secretary, was doing the broadcast round for Downing Street this morning. He rejected claims that the government was distracted by the row about the post of chief of staff. He said:
It’s understandable that journalists, in particular, will be interested in the personalities of who works as advisers within Number 10 Downing Street.
But the prime minister runs the government. He is surrounded by a good team, a strong team of advisers, and, of course, the cabinet.
Our sole focus in Government is trying to steer the country through the pandemic.

The appointment of David Goodhart as an @EHRC commissioner, who has in the past attacked diversity and opined about the need to understand ‘majority grievances’, suggests the very real danger of an end to a progressive equalities agenda in this country.

I was always confident.
Letting in a goal with 2 minutes to go then winning with the last penalty in a shoot out was all part of the plan.
And now I get to watch Chuckles Hancock on Question Time, what a night!

Evidently Chuckles Hancock thinks passive aggressive, patronising arrogance delivered with glib smugness is a good look.

It does rather look like Cummings is on the way out...
I'd say that the Civil Service will be quietly pleased about this.Sam Freedman
@Samfr
Amazing how much political capital Johnson was prepared to spend over the summer to keep Cummings only to decide he was dispensable a few months later. What a pointlessly destructive decision that was.

Chuckles Hancock speaks..."We must find what is good in people and bring it out".
Now while it's good to hear Matt's inner hippy frankly if we were in a drum circle together I'd take my tablas and use them to cause heavy bruising around his face. Because let's face it he's a two faced, opportunistic little cunt who'll say anything for anyone as long as they offer him the kind of status he thinks he deserves and the opportunity to profit from it now and in the future. He has neither the ambition of Johnson nor the naked loathing for their fellow humans that emanates from the likes of Patel. He's just there, trying to appear reasonably harmless by not being as much of a cunt as all the cunts around him.
But he's not. He's as thin skinned and arrogant as the rest of the cunts in his cabinet and watching his dead eyed display this evening was as disturbing as watching your cat playing with a half dead bird. Actually more so because at least your cat doesn't pretend to empathise with the prey it's playing with.
So I'm not sure what good we could bring out from Matt.
Maybe his intestines, dry them out and use them to make tennis racket strings or something.

It was good to have Rosie Jones on.
I'm not going to deny it made me wince to see the sheer amount of effort it took her to speak, my empathy/sympathy meter got a bit fucked up.
And it got a member of the audience to make a very good point.
Any of us could become disabled at any point, disability rights are for all of us.
My mum has Alzheimer's and as a result incontinence, and my dad is currently in a fight with the local council about the state of the public conveniences in the town. These are things you never think about, until you have to.
And these are the things even Tory councils are saying they'll no longer be able to afford.

Matt Hancock's Kumbaya moment brought on a torrent of foul language from me. I don't think that was exactly what he claimed he wanted to bring out.

What - street talk? I don't go out much so I don't tend to hear it. People don't use it much in a domestic setting (for want of a better descriptor) and I think it's still frowned upon and generally regarded as a bit of a taboo word by a lot of people.Sky'sGoneOut wrote:I did notice you lot down South seem to say cunt more than we do up North.
