Good morfternoon.

Morning.
From last night, Drive Angry is a bonkers film, but a lot of fun.
The Potato Head thing was a hell of a marketing campaign. While it's nice to see big companies being 'woke', always remember - they're not on your side.

On gender it's good that the whole spectrum is recognised and that it's OK to be anywhere on it. But I think it's still OK to identify with a particular gender should one wish to do so.
Or maybe I'm missing something.
I don't get out much these days.

It's a shame that so many people feel the need to say anything else.tinyclanger2 wrote:On gender it's good that the whole spectrum is recognised and that it's OK to be anywhere on it. But I think it's still OK to identify with a particular gender should one wish to do so.
Other people seem to feel the need to stir up division even when they don't actually care very much about the issue.

Anas Sarwar wins the ScotLab leadership election, by an almost identical margin to how he lost the last one.

I see that the Sunday Telegraph has the Culture War in its third week of a probably never-ending series.

Let's hope so.
Meanwhile, as a species, what's our plan vis a vis the cultural construct of "economics" versus "objective carrying capacity" of the planet.
Oh yeah. Mars. I forgot for a moment there.

Re: Saturday, 27th and Sunday, 28th February 2021
The Nicolas Cageathon continues.
Tonight's instalment was a black comedy about parents murdering their own children.
Mom and Dad
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5462326/
In the first half an hour we see disappointingly little of Nicolas Cage as it sets up the premise that some kind of static on screens of all kinds is causing parents to murderously turn on their children. Then Nicolas Cage gets home and begins trying to violently end the lives of his teenage daughter and young son. He's eventually aided in this endeavour by his wife Selma Blair but the kids keep foiling their hapless efforts until the doorbell rings. Nicolas Cage has forgotten his own parents were visiting that evening and when he answers the door his own father, Lance Henriksen, immediately begins trying to kill him while Nicolas Cage continues trying to kill his own son. Hilarious chaos ensues.
In amongst this madness are musings on lost youth, the unwanted responsibilities of parenthood and a cracking electronic soundtrack.
And no beard.
On the Cageometer I'd have to give it a 9/10.

That entire exchange is beautiful. I especially liked former Brexit Party MEP Lance Forman's magnificent retort, 'You really are a filthy, disgusting, bitch.' Rarely has such wit been seen amongst he and his colleagues since Mike Hooken punched Steven Woolfe in the face. It's really good to see such a heartening return to form and I note Lance is now suggesting that the person with whom he was jousting must have mental health issues. Outstanding.RogerOThornhill wrote:These former MRPS from the Bexit party are such nice people...

Fiddling around the edges and long term promises that will never be fulfilled. I saw a tweet from some Republican politician the other day showing a red sunset as he flew into Los Angeles saying how beautiful it was. And I thought 'that's the result of pollution you fucking moron'.tinyclanger2 wrote:Meanwhile, as a species, what's our plan vis a vis the cultural construct of "economics" versus "objective carrying capacity" of the planet.

It perfectly encapsulated why we're fucked as a species and if the Permian extinction is anything to go by we're going to take about 90% of life on Earth with us.
Yay let's all go live on a planet where you can be blasted by high energy radiation at any time, where you can't breathe and even in high summer you'd freeze solid during most of the day. What larks! I mean even if you could terraform the planet and give it a suitable atmosphere despite it not having the mass to support one (water vapour and oxygen would have enough energy to reach escape velocity), the lack of a magnetic field would mean you'd be bombarded by cosmic rays coming from every star in the Galaxy and the rest of the visible Universe. These protons are traveling at near the speed of light and when they smash into your atoms bad things happen, they strip your atomic nuclei of their electrons (Ionisation) resulting in the breakdown of chemical bonding and your molecules begin falling apart. This is otherwise known as radiation sickness and is very bad for you.Oh yeah. Mars. I forgot for a moment there.
Still if Elon Musk want's to go live there I would encourage it most heartily. The sooner the better.

I was going to say you were like god, because he watches all sparrows fall*.
But sadly sparrows are becoming increasingly rare whereas grammatical errors are ever more plentiful.
Which would suggest you have a higher workload than our alleged deity.
*Why would a sparrow fall? If there's one thing birds are good at it's not falling.

I was there at the end of the Summer, peak bird with all the chicks reared by the parents still in family groups and flocks. And I found an avian wasteland, barely a cheep. I told you at the time I'd never seen anywhere so denuded of natural life.PorFavor wrote:There aren't many birds around lately. They're a rare sighting in these parts.
