Incoming prime ministers should not suffer the indignity of worrying over who pays to decorate the virtual prison in which they must live, let alone have to pay for it themselves. Of all the sleaze that has surged round this government, Johnson and Carrie Symonds getting help to do up their flat must be the most trivial. There should be an impartial trust, as at Chequers, to ensure the prime minister’s living arrangements can be comfortable and uncontroversial.
Simon Jenkins here, overlooking the basic fact that there's £30k/year available for this very purpose, which was clearly entirely inadequate for Princess Nut Nuts.
You have to feel a bit sorry for the next incumbent in this regard, is £30k going to be enough to get rid of it?

1) Am sure quite a few people in the country cram 2 adults and a baby into a lot less than a 4 bedroom appt
2) 30k a year for decorating? - almost exactly the median salary for the UK

Re the above post on inquiries, Labour might do well to try to get some answers on the ESL business.

That the sort of thing that might (to use the current in vogue term) "cut through" to some people in a way more (to use another "in" phrase) "beltway" stuff might not.

Michael Rosen post regarding Johnson's CV19 lockdown remarks
"These people were talking of engineering a situation in which mass death would take place.
It's not as if science is unaware of the Black Death, Myxomatosis, Polio or Dutch Elm Disease - all with mass fatalities and maiming."

Boris Johnson’s decision to back Priti Patel and disregard the findings of his adviser on ministerial standards that she had bullied staff can be challenged in court, a hearing ruled today.

The FDA union’s judicial review of the decision has been granted a full hearing on the prime minister’s decision despite being challenged by the government in the high court.

Have decided I want a job on the Repair Shop but since I have no skills would need to take Jay's place as the charming front-Clanger.

Only without the charm.
