Good morning.
In shock news, Nadine Dorries tells a lie. Either that or she is just ignorant.

If I'm not here, then I'll be in the library. Or the other library.

Rather like Johnson, she doesn't care one way or another.

Interesting to read the early morning musings on Labour leaders past and present.
Though it has to be said to PF - the idea Wilson didn't have any enemies is rather wide of the mark!
He did indeed start from the premise that party unity was desirable, he didn't always succeed. And many on the left inevitably saw him as a "sell out" before too long, whilst certain people on the right always hated him because he wasn't "one of them" (sound familiar?)

From the G liveblog:
Unusually colourful from Starmer and absolutely spot on.Starmer says working people are being asked to pay twice. They pay national insurance when they work, and when they retire they will have to sell their homes, because they will not be protected. He says it is a classic Covent Garden pick-pocketing operation. The PM entertains the crowd, while the chancellor picks their pocket.

I mean, what's the point in a fib as silly - and easily disprovable - as that one?

It's not even a shortage in the sense that there's no booze at all. Just people whingeing about certain brands perhaps being out of stock .tinyclanger2 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Nov, 2021 3:31 pm https://www.independent.co.uk/news/busi ... 63484.html

They should be grateful that the government is saving Christmas by killing off a thousand patients a week before their time. A pre-emptive culling, or something ...

Re: Wednesday 24th November 2021
With the exception (on the whole) of occasional outliers such as NZ, governmental and intergovernmental bodies around the world have done exactly the same. They were not prepared, they did not understand the very earliest signs that this was radically different from SARS or ebola, they took no obvious steps (bannng international travel) when such actions would have made the most difference and they continue to obfuscate communications-wise to maintain popularity and get re-elected. "Democratic" governments around the world are, almost without exception, more invested in getting reelected than in actually protecting their citizens. Thus we are living in a state of kind of magical realism that (quite obviously) cannot be sustained.

But even NZ has had to give up on Zero Covid. It *is* possible to live with the virus, if it is done intelligently.
(and there, of course, is the problem)
