Good morning.

From frog's link
Recognizing one’s own limitations — and those of others — during wartime can also give rise to many different manifestations of guilt, according to Chapeye. Ukrainian mothers can experience remorse over their perceived insufficient contribution to national defense. Volunteers confront the dissonance of supporting the war effort without fighting on the front line. Soldiers serving in the rear struggle to compare their setbacks with those who are in trenches, while others endure survivor’s guilt, mourning fallen brothers-in-arms.

“This multilevel nature of guilt is, for me, one of the most bizarre and unexpected psychological phenomena of war. Russia attacked Ukraine, but Ukrainians are the ones to feel ashamed. Everyone in Ukraine talks about this,” he writes.

Is the average Russian even capable of feeling shame, one wonders.

Reports by American and German media suggested that the summit may have been the result of a misunderstanding. Sources cited by Bild, the German newspaper, said that Witkoff erroneously interpreted Putin’s demand for the “peaceful withdrawal” of Ukrainian forces from Kherson and Zaporizhzhia as an offer to pull Russian forces out of the regions. A source also told the Washington Post that Witkoff had misunderstood.

“It’s just awful when the mistake of one extremely incompetent person with massive powers leads to a good half of the world ending up in a state of chaos,” Maxim Nesvitaylov, a Ukrainian political analyst, told the new Voice of Ukraine website.

Yay, back to stifling 25 degree heat at night, oh how I love it.

As I previously mentioned I'm being 'migrated' onto Universal Credit. If I were a wildebeest migrating over the African plains dodging lions and crocodiles it would be easier than this. The latest farce has been that they insisted I needed a 'fit note' (sick note) from my doctor before anything could proceed. Which is bollocks. I messaged back providing links and quotes from both a government website and the DWP's own guidance for claimants and staff to no avail. Apparently the law didn't apply to me for some obscure reason. So next I sent a link to the regulation involved and a tweet from the Director General of the DWP where he explicitly states that asking for sick notes shouldn't be happening. That was on Friday. Late this afternoon I got an (you're never going to believe this) apology. Of sorts. Here it is.
It looks like there was a slight system error but this has now been resolved. I would like to apologise for any confusion caused.
That's it, after a week of tearing what little hair I've got left out. To be honest I'm glad Universal Credit is managed online so I could take my time and inject just enough passive aggressive anger into my messages to leave myself satisfied without crossing the line. If I'd have had to deal with it over the phone I hate to think what would have happened.

Obviously I looked this up in benefit forums and despite the DWP saying the issue was fixed last December it's still happening to thousands of people, many of whom are needlessly clogging up their GP surgeries wasting the time of GPs asking for sick notes they don't need.

Having been unfortunate enough to have to deal with the DWP ever since I was a teenager I have to say I've never known it so dysfunctional and its staff so poorly trained.

On the plus side though at least I'm not being shot while queuing for food after my country was reduced to rubble while most of the worlds media refuse to say who shot me.

So mustn’t grumble. Silver linings and all that.
