Thursday 9th October 2025

Post by refitman »

Morning all.

Woke up to a 4am text message from Northern Power and no electricity ☹️. Briefly thought "ah ha, my hot water is gas!", then realised that they boiler still needs electricity to run.

Hoping that the electricity is on at work, so I can have my coffee.

The natives might, just possibly, be getting restless ?

But difficult to tell !

'Barry Frome' -- much -censored commenter at the Times --

A tale from Russia's back yard, 5,300km from Ukraine, from the other Pokrovsk, in the Sakha Republic;

ADMINISTRATION OF THE URBAN SETTLEMENT "CITY OF POKROVSK" OF THE MUNICIPAL DISTRICT "KHANGALASSKIY ULUS" OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAKHA (YAKUTIA)

THE CENTER OF THE MUNICIPAL DISTRICT "KHANALAS ULUUHA" OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAKHA "POKROVSKY CITY"

ORDER October 7, 2025 № 578

On declaring a day of mourning.

In connection with the loss of our fellow countrymen during a special military operation, as a sign of deep sorrow and respect for the memory of the fallen heroes,

I ORDER:

1. Declare a three-day mourning period in the State Enterprise “City of Pokrovsk” on October 7, 8, and 9, 2025.

2. During the days of mourning, all city organizations and institutions are to cancel entertainment events and lower state flags.

3. In educational institutions, begin lessons with a minute of silence.

4. I reserve control over the execution of this order.

----------------------

The reason for this is that the bodies of 200 dead soldiers have just been returned to the city of 10,000. That is 2% of the entire population. If you take in to account male/female and under 18 and over 60 it is about 10% of the military age male population... And this is just the latest batch.

I actually had a call from a real person, with an update. Power should be back about 11am.

I only listened with half an ear to the BBC's 6AM Gaza 'News', and now I'm deliberately not tuning in to WATO .

Just opened the Liveblog , these two sum it all up --

The clutch of second rate and irrelevant politicians queueing up to pontificate over Gaza in beyond risible. In all your puff, did you ever see such a pack of self-inflated blighters?

Israel says Gaza deal to take effect only after receiving cabinet approval

Explains why other news channels are currently reporting Israel bombing Gaza city right now. Truly some of the worst bad faith merchants to ever enter into negotiations with

Cheeky !

The front cover is -- Farewell The Trumpets , by James Morris

Inside -- Copyright Jan Morris 1978

She'd already transitioned by '78 but the original name more recognisable for sales !

First thing this morning, Jamie Dymon of JP MorganChase warning of the bubble, now this mob!

Lovely Anti-AI story of someone trying to use it, to cheat and make $$$'s, and being royally fucked , from 8'15 --

Also a knowledgeable set of comments !

BTW the Tony Blair Institute of Govt( NOW @700 employees iirc) is royally funded by Larry Ellison, equal First Richest Man in the World , using snake-oil to gain Power.
-----------------------------------------

What is the difference between Larry Ellison and God ?

God doesn't believe he's Larry Ellison .

What is pathetic is the Labour Party's leadership obsession with AI , to solve all their econ problems, by MAGIC , and their falling over their shoelaces to sell out to the mostly US techBro oligarchs . SKS of course, but Peter Kyle is VERY well enmeshed with the Tony Blair Institute.

Stock markets are higher off the backs of the AI 'investment' bubble, so if that hiccups, the ramifications should be wide ...
