Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th December 2025
Re: Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th December 2025
Afternoon !
The new official US position on NATO the UN and any other previous agreements , treaties , whatever --
( The language of " “growing numbers of strong, traditional families that raise healthy children.”" is identical with certain political movements in the 1930's, and Marshal Pétain from 1941 .... )
" Late last night, the Trump administration released the 2025 National Security Strategy (NSS) of the United States of America. It did so quietly, although as foreign affairs journalist at Politico Nahal Toosi noted, the release of the NSS is usually accompanied by fanfare, as it shows an administration’s foreign policy priorities and the way it envisions the position of the U.S. in the world.
... ... ...
The Trump administration’s NSS announces a dramatic reworking of the foreign policy the U.S. has embraced since World War II.
Their vision of “our country’s inherent greatness and decency,” requires “the restoration and reinvigoration of American spiritual and cultural health,” “an America that cherishes its past glories and its heroes, and that looks forward to a new golden age,” and “growing numbers of strong, traditional families that raise healthy children.”
Observers referred to the document as National Security Council Report (NSC) 88 and noted that it could have been written in just 14 words. White supremacists use 88 to refer to Adolf Hitler and “fourteen words” to refer to a popular white supremacist slogan.
To achieve their white supremacist country, the document’s authors insist they will not permit “transnational and international organizations [or] foreign powers or entities” to undermine U.S. sovereignty. To that end, they reject immigration as well as “the disastrous ‘climate change’ and ‘Net Zero’ ideologies that have so greatly harmed Europe, threatened the United States, and subsidize our adversaries.” "

Plenty of skilled frontline staff do not get paid enough to qualify, and many of those who do are put off by excessive visa charges and 'special' NHS taxes .

Re: Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th December 2025
Well after never arranging a funeral before the last piece of the jigsaw fell into place today and I'm feeling pretty pleased with myself. Especially as I had to do 90% of it over the phone or Zoom from Leeds while being in near constant fear of shitting myself (happily whatever was ailing me has finally cleared up).
I have to say it was surprisingly easy and a lot cheaper than I thought it was going to be. Though the latter might be because I did most of it myself rather than relying on a funeral director. This may ring alarm bells for some but I got the undertaker to give me a list of everything that needed arranging and there's now a tick next to them all. So as long as my Dad remembers his appointment with the registrar on Monday we're all good to see my Mum off on Thursday. Don't get me wrong, I've still got a horrible nagging feeling that I've forgotten something or fucked something up but I get that most of the time anyway. Crematorium, hearse, flowers, music, celebrant, local bowling club for the wake (it was the best I could do in December at short notice), bouncy castle. Yep I think I'm done.

Oh and fuck anyone who denigrates the work of the absolutely wonderful Asian women who work in our nursing homes. They were splendid from start to finish with my Mum, scrupulously professional until the last, then afterwards gave lovely hugs. I can't praise them highly enough.

Second hollow laugh of the day ! Imagining a tiny deal with India makes up for the Brexit Loss is a McSweeney stretch of the imagination, and has any public analysis of a change of course on future elections been done ?refitman wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 9:35 am Got to keep the Reform and Tory voters you're pandering to happy, eh Labour?
First laugh went to the HO banning EU students coming over because they'd hurt their ( recently improving) immigration figures .
Not so cold, but wet and windchily here

Would you look at that, it's only Starmer rewarding a Tory. And let's conveniently forget that Starmer previously pledged to abolish the Lords.

Hahahaha Starmer's cooked. Unfortunately those planning his removal haven't realised it's the party as a whole that people hate, not just him specifically. And the people they're lining up to replace him are some of the most hateful people ever.

"" There is no suggestion that McSweeney or any of the potential candidates named knew about the survey, which closes on December 15. Labour Together has made no public reference to its existence.
In an email to party activists this weekend, a senior staff member at the think tank wrote of “stellar pick-up so far” and offered £100 to any local party with more than ten members responding, plus entry for that party to a £1,000 prize draw.
As well as their leadership favourites, respondents were asked whether they preferred “Labour politicians who have principles but are prepared to compromise to get the best outcome possible” or “Labour politicians who stand by their principles no matter what”.
Other questions included the government’s performance on a range of policy areas, including Gaza, housing, defence, climate change, education, the economy and immigration, all of which are likely to be subject to fierce debate in a leadership election. ""

TRUMP ALIENATION CONSEQUENCES --
105 721 vues 6 déc. 2025
Canada just called Trump’s bluff.
In a shocking counter-move to the escalating trade war, Canadian Industry Minister Mélanie Joly has unveiled a massive $500M steel investment strategy designed to protect Canadian sovereignty and bypass U.S. tariff aggression. Former U.S. Labor Secretary Robert Reich breaks down why this move has left the Trump administration "stunned" and what it means for the future of the American working class.
As Donald Trump doubles down on protectionist tariffs, Canada is pivoting away from reliance on the U.S., securing domestic supply chains and saving thousands of jobs at major producers like Algoma Steel. Reich explains how Trump’s "America First" strategy is backfiring, driving closest allies to build independent economic fortresses that could leave the U.S. isolated and prices skyrocketing for American consumers.
