Re: Thursday 2nd January 2025
Thanks for that lol Rog .
I've had several of those already today --
Having followed my last blood tests I knew I was heading directly to this and was waiting for the next one on Tuesday to ring the (very late) alarm bells . NOW I suppose that it was a sharp-eyed med secretary but still a bit of a mystery because she'd have had my dossier on her screen ...Slept till 4 , as usual, then at 9.14 woke to a call from the Uni Hospital
"Where are you transfused ?"
"I'm not."
Incredulity ... ( she thought I couldn't hear her correctly ! )
" I had to swear that I was 77 and had never ever been transfused "![]()

Another nice clear Youtube !!
I didn't know that the Muskrat had laid off 15,000 workers in the Spring...
and that many of them were higher-paid senior engineers who he replaced with younger cheaper replacements on those sexy visas which tie you to your employer ...
very similar to the indentured employee scheme used to colonise early America, and then by the British Empire to provide a labour force on the Pacific islands etc

So it isn't just the NHS where this sort of thing happens, then.Frog222 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 2:19 pm Having followed my last blood tests I knew I was heading directly to this and was waiting for the next one on Tuesday to ring the (very late) alarm bells . The first ever time I've looked at a 'FoxNews Business' youtube, and also a reminder that I already knew that they were NOT an identically stupid adjunct to Trump's promoters on the 'News' Channel --

Re: Thursday 2nd January 2025
Well the festive warm spell has definitely come to an end that's for sure, I met up with a friend for a couple of beers and couldn't stop shivering on the way home while walking on the road to avoid going arse over tits on the icy pavements.
During said freezing stroll I began wondering about the feasibility of creating an exoskeleton for just such an occasion. The frame would protect the wearer from falls while dynamos in all the joints would harvest the kinetic energy of movement and use it to heat an insulated suit. I'll start on a prototype tomorrow. Small scale to begin with. Maybe make one for a squirrel and see how it gets on before beginning human trials.

That must be a Barnsley thing because here in Leeds as soon as it drops below 15° they're out in their parkas and puffer jackets.

Saw somebody in just a t-shirt and shorts today - and they were ethnic minority! I mean, you might expect them to feel the cold *more*?

Re: Thursday 2nd January 2025
In all fairness to Suella the Italians did build a wall to keep out what they perceived to be barbarians, it just happens to be in England. Hadrian's wall took 6 years to build. So by my calculations to build a wall 1800 miles long (the distance between the Italian and Turkish borders) would take approximately 150 years given the Roman engineers rate of about 12 miles a year. Obviously direct comparisons can't be made due to not being able to use slaves these days and having to build tunnels for Bulgarian hedgehogs and all that nonsense, but if Meloni were to conquer a swathe of Europe it could be done.
The lessons of history however would point to it being a colossal waste of time. The Sumerians built a massive wall to keep out the Aramaic desert raiders from their West, the Chinese built a massive wall to keep out the steppe Mongols, Hadrian's wall was built to keep out drunk guys in ginger wigs. All failed miserably.

Nick Clegg, former UK deputy prime minister, leaves Meta
https://www.theguardian.com/technology/ ... clegg-meta
So this cunt stages a right wing coup against his own party leader, forces a Tory coalition on us, destroys his own party, then buggers off to the States and makes millions from a social media platform used to spread massive amounts of misinformation, then leaves and pats himself on the back.
He should be in stocks while we fling shit at him and yet he'll be jetting around living the high life and there's not a fucking thing we can do about it.
I expect we'll be saying the same of some in the Labour government in a few years time.
